Robert Plant – Let the Four Winds Blow Lyrics 16 years ago
As a Thelemite (or, would you prefer Thelemic Magician), I agree with so much of what is said above. So all I want to add is a simple reminder that "Four Sticks" (the song off the fourth LZ album) is titled "four sticks" because (simply) Bonzo played that song using Four drum sticks. In the song "Liars Dance," by Robert Plant, there's a reference to "let the four winds blow" in this song that I feel is about the potential for a LZ reunion ("we won't be back again"). I believe the "eerie tune" etc is artistic license evoking a "seance" feel.

This song, as all good works of poetry, has many layers. One layer to me is that this is sung to the dead friend (best friend at that) of Robert Plant, John Bonham. Another layer is that I love what is said about the HGA and now I'm taking that too 100%. Finaly, the most poetic of layers - it means what it personally means to you.

Robert Plant – Takamba Lyrics 17 years ago
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

"Sing a song of freedom write it in the sky" - Stairway to Heaven!
"Pocket full of secrets, a belly full of lies" - Magick!
"Fiction to believe in, created then denied" - nevaeH ot yawriatS

"Tricks and mirror" - Reverse it.
"Sleight of hand" - Magick.
"Hoola hoola" - reverse it, spin it round.
"Promised land" - Heaven? Hell?

"Hail the gift of memory in this fifty-second state" - Now here's a real clue for you all (the Walrus was Paul). ;) No, j/k. I don't think this lyric is about a time frame (it certainly ain't no minute), nor a place. Liber 52 by Aleister Crowley is "An Open Letter to Those Who Wish to Join the OTO." The OTO is Aleister Crowley's secret society of practicing magician - of which Jimmy Page is not only a member, but one of the most complete as far as collection of Crowley material. The gift of memory is what is taught in Liber Berashith (a practice used by members of the OTO to gain "magickal memory" by learning to sing, talk, and listen backwards.

"Who sold me down the river and shafts me while he waits
Outside the gates of Eden, star spangled and so late" - I believe this refers to Jimmy Page. Robert Plant is here saying he was used as an instrument and Page is waiting for something (in paradise) to come true.

Just my fifty cents.

Love is the law, love under will.

Prince – 7 Lyrics 18 years ago
And in the distance, 6 others will curse me

(Asian, Black, Caucasion, Hispanic, Native American, Other)

The voice of many colors sings a song that's so bold.

And I love it the way he says "I am yours now and you are mine and 2....gether we'll love through all space and time" because the way he emphasizes "two" makes me think "male/female" and this song fills me with the elimination of Race.

The Beatles – All You Need Is Love Lyrics 18 years ago
I hate to burst your bubble folks - this song is not really about "love and peace" like you all think and like the hippy movement seemed to want it to be. Read Hunter Thompson's Authorized Biography of The Beatles (aptly called, The Beatles) and the boys from Liverpool tell you themselves the inspiration for this song (first heard during the first ever World Wide Live Broadcast from Hawaii using the first ever Communications Satelite - an invention of Arthur C. Clarkes who was among the many famous you will see if you watch the video).

Here it is: Every phrase is a statement (paraphrased most likely) made to the band by the at the time deceased Brian Epstein, their manager who took the band to fame by molding their image. There's nothing you can't do, there's no one you can't be, there's no point in getting all political, keep the image and sing love songs. That was Brian's message to the band - this song was their message to themselves and the world that they were now a new band. Read the book. The line at the end, from "She Loves You" (an early Beatle hit) was sarcastically added to point out the type of music that the band was no longer interested in creating.

As a side note, Paul McCartney's "Silly Little Love Song" was in reference to this - suggesting it was all Lenon's idea to vere from the formula. The old Lennon vs McCartney thing I s'pose.

Led Zeppelin – Boogie with Stu Lyrics 18 years ago
I love this song. It's a fantastic proof of the so-called "telepathic" nature of the band. The band was recording III at Hedley Grange where this old dilapidated piano sat. Since they were borrowing the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio at the time, it's no surprise that Ian Stewart paid a visit. And this recording (although I'm sure mastered later by Page) was actually made as is - no writing or rehearsing. This is a jam session folks - and knowing that, I hope you listen to the musicianship and talent of the boys just playing along. Oh, and as for the quality of the just then tuned (by Ian) piano sitting in a run down, underheated factory worker's dormitory from the 19th century - give it credit too!

Led Zeppelin – Bonzo's Montreux Lyrics 18 years ago
The song is called Bonzo's Montreux because, as has been hinted at but not fully stated, it is named after John "Bonzo" Bonham who recorded it in 1978 at a studio in Montreux, Switzerland (with later electronic parts added by Jimmy Page). It was never released during the band's career - but placed in " Coda" (which is a technical term in music meaning "the end of a musical score" - an apt title for a collection of recordings released two years after the band disbanded) in 1982.
