I wanted to add I think the actual lyrics are about his struggle to accept the fact that she will never grow to be what he had told himself she would be. Like maybe when she was a baby he thought she would outgrew her disabilities but even with all his work putting her in therapy ect. she still is disabled. It actually makes me think of an autistic child, with the lyrics "To make your eyes catch fire The way they should The way the blue could pull me in If they only would" |

| I always thought this song is about having a disabled child, particularly a daughter. | |

Beautiful song! I like the idea of it being about a married woman. The lyric "when so many love you is it the same" could be about the woman's children and husband. also "old enough now to change your name" could be about her children being old enough now to leave her husband. "To be a woman and to be turned down" could be about her husband losing interest or her feeling he has. |

| I think the chain of command is saying her family has been silenced now. They are their own family. That is just my take. | |
| Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Into My Arms Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| From what I heard Nick Cave is not an athiest but a christian. I think he is just stating he has different beliefs. He is not saying "I don't believe in god". | |
