I'm surprised theres not a single comment on this song! This song is simply uplifting. The actual song meaning is rather apparent, so need for analysis, but I did like the verse "You'll whisper sweet lies to me And one of them will be true" She would tell him many exaggerrated promises, expressions but in the end, when she tells him that she loves him, that would be the most truest "lie" she's come to say. |

I love this song simply because it's sounds so relaxing yet it talks about a clash of lifestyles. I assume the main protagonist is the handsome female. She lives a ordinary life whereas the Gentleman lives amongst the extraordinaire, as he comes from a wealthy background. Forget life's complexities (wealth, labor, education, etc) when you can enjoy yourself; presume she enjoys to be with the wealthy man. The observation over the pantry boy reveals the Gentleman's POV of status. He points out that the pantry boy steps out of place by somewhat scolding the couple regarding the rings. How does this relate to the female? She lives a similar life to that boy and can probably empathize but she disregards any of it as she currently is "living the lifestyle" so to speak, as she throws away the world's complexities; enjoy now, care later. My interpretation. |

Currently my favorite Stars track. I have to disagree with Bluemask simply because the chorus states he "couldn't make her see" and that he wasn't the man she thought he'd be. So that obviously refers to the idea that she was the one that left him. The child asks why he was born probably out of spite, living a life with divorced parents isn't every childs dream. I think Amy's closing comments refers to her Ex's current state of barreness; like she's a bit sympathetic to the desolate life he lives. |
