Oh my gosh, I love this song. I know it's about passing of youth... but I'd love to cover this song using my own interpretation. I remember, last summer, I was feeling tied down in my relationship... I took a break from my boyfriend. (He was still my boyfriend... but we weren't really seeing each other. It was confusing.) I wanted to experience other guys, etc. Immediately after he left my house, I opened itunes and hit Shuffle. This song came on, and I realized it reallyyy hit home. I like to look at the lines "And I can tell you my love for you will still be strong after the boys of summer have gone" kind of like... "I might be with other guys for now, but in the end, it's really all about you." (Summer is over, and we are still happily together.) Anyone else out there see the song this way? |

i'm surprised more people haven't mentioned the subtle ED references. "Now I know a disease That these doctors can’t treat You contract it the day You accept all you see Is a mirror and a mirror is all it can be A reflection of something we’re missing" |

| Bright Eyes – Take It Easy (Love Nothing) Lyrics | 18 years ago |

its easy to look at the lyrics to any bright eyes song and see a personal experience of conor's. i don't see why so many people comment about the objective meaning of the song. isn't it more about the subjective feeling you get from the song? like the song might specifically be about one single experience, but it may be meant to symbolize and evoke a general theme. like for this song, i think its like.. get fucked over, and realize that its so much easier and less painful to just "take it easy (love nothing)" |
