Right, exactly. The Red Paintings opened for The Dresden Dolls when they toured the States - it was TRP's first time in America. As for this song, the version that's on the Feed the Wolf EP has the lyrics that Motherwar_xx has. You can stream the cover of this song here: http://obscuresound.com/mp3/redpaint-sin.mp3 The strings on this cover are insanely beautiful. |

That looks about right... the only thing I hear differently is the "Help me again, am I caught dear?" lines you have. I want to say that he alternates between "help" and "tell" and that "Am I caught dear?" is "Am I called here?" So, "Help/Tell me again, am I called here, or are we lost?" is how I hear it, although I could be off-base. Throughout their past couple EPs, they've had an Alice in Wonderland sort of theme, moving on to a Little Red Riding Hood thing. I couldn't tell you what the wolf symbolizes in this song, but what I get out of this song is a strained relationship. Trash isn't upset, per se ("We're not evil..." and "Am I naive, or lost in love, or both - will I ever, ever know?" seem to illustrate this), but he is clearly frustrated ("An apocalypse dream is you thinking of me."). Perhaps the girl is a sexual deviant, and by feeding the wolf she assuages her lust for sex. Great song, though. I love the wolf howls in the intro followed by the frantic instrumental intro. |
