| U2 – Love Is Blindness Lyrics | 18 years ago |

During the period of recording Love is blindness and the album Achtung Baby! U2's guitarist THE EDGE was seperating from his then wife and going through divorce proceedings and Bonos quote for this song was " it was the sound of a marriage breaking up" and the guitar solo on the recorded version (different to the live version - see ZOO TV live from sydney) was the sound of edge opening up and letting all his grief out, he actually broke a guitar string during the recording of the solo yet did not miss a note according to Bono. The song is about a break up / Divorce / a dead relationship. The lines like "fingers to numb to feel" "blow out the candle" "Wrap the night around me" refer to someone made numb by a failing relationship and the feeling to just get away or just ignore the problem and hope it goes away. The line "take the money homey" is also a divorce reference with a feeling of just "take everything" to stop the numbness. I do think that their is a suicide reference in the lines "A little death Without mourning No call And no warning Baby...a dangerous idea That almost makes sense" |
