| Right Away, Great Captain! – Oh No, I Tried Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i could have sworn it was "mother" with an accent? like "i swear on my mother's grave" type thing. | |
| Kevin Devine – Tomorrow's Just Too Late (newer version) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
oh my god the new album is so amazing. and this song is so incredible. the imagery is absolutely amazing: you drag your tiger's paw across your chapped & cracking lips, and open up a crimson slur you spread each time you kiss. it's the kind of pain/pleasure of staying with her man and being able to kiss him. ugh fantastic. however, what does the last line about the albatross mean? i don't get it. |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"and this is the room one afternoon i knew i could love you, and from above you how i sank into your soul, into that secret place where no one dares to go." most romantic words ever put to paper. jeff mangum, marry me? |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song is so good it makes me weep. jeff gets to "soft and sweet" and i'm done. amazing. | |
| Bears – When You're Away Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this is such an adorable yet sad song. i can't believe nobody's commented yet. i think it's about a long distance relationship and how it's just not working. or maybe that's just my interpretation having just gotten out of something similar. but anyways. great song. | |
| The Mountain Goats – Going to Georgia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this is one of the most heartbreakingly amazing love songs ever produced. weirdly romantic and just gorgeous. i think it's about a suicidal man who can only be saved by the woman he loves. i picture him at the beginning, depressed and lonely, the girl having just left. and then, at "the most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway is that it's you and that you are standing in the doorway", she comes back, and i picture her with two suitcases at her side, just kind of shrugging, saying, "well, here i am. i'm back." and she stops him from killing himself and it's absolutely beautiful and ohmygod i can't get enough of this song. |

| Iron & Wine – Bird Stealing Bread Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Do his hands in your hair Feel a lot like a thing You believe in Or a bit like a bird Stealing bread Out from under your nose?" these may be the most beautiful lines ever written. they have the most amazing sound when said aloud. the alliteration is beautiful. i think this is about a man who lost his love out of carelessness, and is now upset that he let it get away. he knows his girl isn't happy, but she just can't be with him. |

| Iron & Wine – Beneath the Balcony Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i'd just like to point out the crime and punishment reference, with the dream of the dying horse. so my guess is that it has something to do with guilt. all of these people are guilty, but they're looking for someone to blame, before they get what's coming to them (the king). so they're basically hiding from their guilt beneath the balcony. | |
