| Manchester Orchestra – 50 Cent Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| It is indeed Andy Hull's song. Manchester has played it live. You can find it on youtube. | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – Grapevine Fires Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The verse "And a wake-up call to a rented room.." Before we all burn." Makes it sound like he's having an affair with a married woman and that it will catch up to him "Before we all burn." He later talks about her daughter. Not their daughter, reinforcing my affair idea. |
| Grandaddy – Underneath The Weeping Willow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Until I'm allowed finally To wake and be happy again" The way he puts it sounds like obligatory grieving. Like how you're expected to cry at a funeral. But he might not be sad... |
| Cold War Kids – Sermons vs. the Gospel Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Actually I didn't see the religious-ness of this song. I thought it was more about the singer being with a girl who couldn't understand him. "lord have mercy on me, we're talking about two different things" Maybe I took it too obviously. |
| The Junior Varsity – Lifted Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I'm not really sure if this song is about sex, drugs, or both. | |
| Eisley – In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I didn't realize it was a cover at the time | |
| The Hush Sound – Hurricane Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It sounds a bit like a mother talking to her son after "the hurricane" her divorce. | |
| You, Me, and Everyone We Know – Dirty Laundry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Thanks, some of the words changed but I tried. I guess it's about a lonely guy checking out girls on the internet after a failed relationship. |
| Rilo Kiley – August Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Am I crazy or does this song remind anyone else of a song in "Grease" ? | |
| Say Anything – Spores Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Lol I thought he knocked someone up. Then they got into a fight and he "puts her in her place" and beats her up. Then he goes to jail... | |
| Say Anything – Vexed Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Two ideas It's j about the really religious Christians trying to convert people of other religions "I know your kind." And I agree with other people about the slut who goes to church and acts innocent. "Everybody knows beneath your clothes Starring at your toes is just a pose" |
| Thursday – Autumn Leaves Revisited Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Did you hear the trumpets play the day your father died? Did a violin swell those circles under your eyes?" That part reminds me of "Welcome To The Black Parade". Maybe Gerard and Geoff shared their writing with each other? |
| The Forecast – APR Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| What does APR stand for? | |
| Bright Eyes – Coat Check Dream Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"I slept with that dealer all summer The ecstasy is still in my spine" This part really confuses me. I don't know if he means he had sex with the dealer and still remembers...how good the sex felt. Or if the dealer is a drug dealer who gave him ecstasy. I think both are a little too obvious. |
| Emery – The Weakest Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Maybe it's saying "Go ahead, you've already dug this grave with all the bad things you've said and done." With references like "Point the gun (in your way)" and "Running with the scissors pointed at your heart from your hand" |
| Motion City Soundtrack – Point of Extinction Lyrics | 18 years ago |
On to the meaning... Anyone else think "This is the best that it will get (Yeah yeah yeah, give it up, give it up)" and "You'll always get burned But you'll never give it up" are about sex? |
| Senses Fail – Mason's Revenge Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Some of the lines make me think it's about an engagement. "You wore a summer dress, I wore my Sunday’s best. We were a pair, that night." But the next line seems to imply that the girl wants to get married but the boy isn't ready. "And then you said, "Diamonds are girl's best friend." I turned my head. I bit my lip, and bit my lip again." |
| Emery – What Makes a Man a Man Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about a one night stand. And it's late, so you don't really want to say goodbye, so you just head down the stairs that lead you out. The sound of silence is as loud as a gunshot. "Forgive me" were the only words they read on the note you left. He doesn't bother to wake her up because he feels so bad about what has happened. And (not to be sexist) that's what makes a man a man. |
| The Dresden Dolls – My Alcoholic Friends Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I like your interpretation more, Virtuallypainless. | |
| Taking Back Sunday – Belgium Waffle Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song is about journeying all the way to Belgium to find that Belgium waffles are a myth. It's a real coming of age song. It inspires me everyday of my life. And the intro and background vocals, beautiful. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – My Alcoholic Friends Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Taking shots for mother nature" I think she's talking about getting drunk so she can do what nature intended, get pregnant. Just a thought... |
| Bright Eyes – The Difference in the Shades Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"We will always be the way we were that night You crawled inside of me And you slept in my blood the way you sleep now" I think that's about him falling in love with her. How she became almost a part of him. And maybe before she slept in his blood in a good way. Now she hurts him... That didn't make much sense. But the love part...yeah |
| The Starting Line – Something Left to Give Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I was kind of thinking the same as Weartsaint08. But I think he's talking about music. When he says "And I'll hear my children and grandchildren sing" I think he's talking about the future generations of singers/songwriters and how he would like to contribute to music history. Just what I thought... |
| Boys Night Out – Let Me Be Your Swear Word Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I suppose it's about a girl who's a bit of a tease. She and the boy get drunk and things get out of hand. She's embarrassed about it so she kicks him out. That's what I got... | |
| Aiden – Unbreakable (I.J.M.A.) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I just realized, "I know my scars won't heal tonight ‘cause they’re paid for paid for" is about his tattoos | |
| Aiden – Unbreakable (I.J.M.A.) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I just realized, "I know my scars won't heal tonight ‘cause they’re paid for paid for" is about his tattoos | |
| The Forecast – Fade In, Fade Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think the beginning is about falling in love without being drunk. | |
| Bright Eyes – Arienette Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Someone said Arienette is Conor's true love. But he makes references to other women too. I believe these are the people you date before you meet your Arienette. Julie (Lua) is the one who drags you down. Laura (Laura Laurent, Land Locked Blues) is very dependent. Amy (Amy In The White Coat, possibly in The Calendar Hung Itself) I think that the abuse is a metaphor. Amy is someone who lacks confidence. She's quiet and kind of lifeless. |
| You, Me, and Everyone We Know – Do It Again (You're Not Making Me Want to Touch You) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about him getting totally wasted just so he can bring himself to sleep with whoever he finds. Especially the whole "And I'll take this, drink think, do this, smoke this Fuck you while we're somebody else" It kind of sums up the song. |
| Chiodos – A Letter From Janelle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I know that everyone's confirmed that this song is literally about a letter. But does anyone else think this is about a failed relationship and sex? | |
