I see this song to mean that when all the complexities that we invite into our lives to make our lives more interesting end up bogging us down and bedeviling us, it would be nice to escape to a simple life with simple pleasures. Seems to be pretty self-explanatory but that's my paraphrasing of it. |

To me, it's obvious that the song is about someone who uses alcohol irresponsibly and to excuse his/her actions. I don't see why this song necessarily has anything to do with straight edge. I'm well aware that Davey is, but I drink moderately and know drinkers who invoke with me the same type of distaste that Davey has for whoever inspired this song. |
