His voice is beautiful here. I don't think there's too many people who wouldn't be able to write this song. Lovely and so sad. |

| M. Ward – I'll Be Yr Bird Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Definitely a love song. To me, anyway. I think it's about love late(r) in life. Because although he isn't her first love, he still wants to be something special to her. Not your second, not your third, I'll be your bird... |

I'm voting this one of the best breakup songs ever. No wallowing, no bitterness, nothing that usually goes along with how you feel post-breakup. I think the lyrics are pretty much perfect and I hope I can relate to them fully sometime soon. |

The version I have says: "And now that we're a little older This is what I mean to say" Love this song. |

Nobody's commented on this one yet? I'm slightly surprised as this is one of my favorites of The Kooks. Anyway, I find take this song to be about fate. At least this line: "‘Cause I’m always where I need to be And I always though I would end up with you eventually" Wherever he is in his life, what he's doing, whoever his friends are, it's how it's supposed to be at the time being. Thus the "Always where I need to be". Nothing is ever a mistake. And because of fate, he believes he'll end up with this person, obviously, when he says "And I always though I would end up with you, eventually" Love this song. :) |

I was driving myself crazy not being able to identify the original name for this song... I thought I was imagining having heard it before. It's not my favorite but it's definitely up there. Thom's vioce is extra amazing on the new record. |

| Radiohead – House of Cards Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I take it to mean simply not caring about consequences of jumping into something - in this case a relationship. "No matter how it ends / No matter how it starts" He's enamored and even if he knows that it may not last or they're not right for eachother, this doesn't seem to phase him. Sort of how everyone feels when they first become infatuated with somebody, you don't think of the situation objectively or logically... At least I know I don't. Amazing song, I almost wish I hadn't had the bootlegs before getting In Rainbows. Now I only have 5 new songs to absorb. :/ |

| This song made me cry after not being able to cry for weeks now. I'm not sure what it was but it is incredibly beautiful. As is the rest of In Rainbows. Ugh, they're fucking Gods. | |
| Elliott Smith – Angel in the Snow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I absolutely love this song. This is only my opinion because we'll never know what Elliott truly intended to portray here. But I take this song to perfectly describes a relationship between two incredibly insecure people. "I'd say you make a perfect angel in the snow, all crushed out all the way you are, you better stop before it goes too far" The narrator is in love with somebody who has a complete warped image of herself. He believes this girl to be beautiful ("I'd say you make a perfect angel in the snow") while she doesn't. He thinks she's perfect the way she is ("All crushed out the way you are"), while she thinks the opposite. I'm assuming she has some sort of addiction, illness, something that disrupts her life to an extreme and Elliott wants to be the one to save her. ("Better stop before it goes too far." How Elliott sings "Don't you know that I love you?" is just so painfully beautiful to me. He's constantly convincing her that he is indeed in love with her but she refuses to believe it due to her own insecurities. With how much he loves her and how highly he thinks of her, it sounds as if he begins to feel inferior, as if she's only with him because she NEEDS him and not because she loves him. "Sometimes I feel like only a cold still life That fell down here to lay beside you" describes this beautifully. I think he also says this to tell her how he feels when he's with her, that she should never think she's not good enough for him, because next to her he feels just like a 'cold still life' This song is just completely perfect. |
