I have been listening to this song for years and it wasn't until I read the story 'Eveline' in english class that I understood what its about. It's all about how she has to decide between staying at home with her abusive family to take care of them like she had promised her mother on her deathbed she would, or run away with her lover. In the end she chooses to stay. |

I can't believe NO ONE has commented this song! This song has some absolutely amazing lyrics, and I love them. I'm an unsure on whether its about how the woman loves him back and he's happy about it, or maybe she doesn't at all and that's why there are tears in his eyes. Either way it makes me sad. And it's a great song. |

My dad listened to this song a lot when I was a little girl. I remember this one night in the kitchen just listening to it...It was back when my parents were still together and we lived as one big family in my old neighborhood and I was about 6 or 7 and nothing mattered. I'm not quite sure what this song is really about but to me every time I hear it I want to cry and it reminds me of how we surround ourselves with something fierce so we can hide in it. |
