| My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I mostly think this is about not losing your heart in a cold, cruel world. Do or die You'll never make me Because the world will never take my heart Though they try, they'll never break me We want it all, we wanna play this part I won't explain or say I'm sorry I'm not ashamed, I'm gonna show my scar Give a cheer for all the broken Listen here, because it's only and the way it talks in the beginning about his father asking him if he will be the "savior".... I think he feels like he needs to lead the way for other people who still feel their hearts and feel things intensely and need encouragement to be who they are and he's telling us it's okay to be like that/be who we are. I'm just a man, I'm not a hero Just a boy who's meant to sing this song but he's also saying that he can't do it all alone and he can't save the whole world, he's just going to do what he can. |

| Tigers Jaw – I Saw Water Lyrics | 14 years ago |
these are close, but here are the correct lyrics taken from the tigers jaw myspace: i said i wanted to break my friends but my dependency won't let me away i'd like to think that i can work it out some but i want to be put into the ground today i needed a break my friends are up in mountains and i'm drowning in lakes i swallowed water right in front of her face just to show that she had nothing to say i felt lighter i impressed her but my emotions ran unopposed i felt just like brian jones i've never felt that lost before i just don't feel incredible but me, well of course i liked you have time for me, i don't expect you to i see me become a recluse it's very easy to seclude i saw water i felt better i woke up feeling embarrassed from when i drowned in my swimming pool you thought it was an accident but i just can't get along with you |

"the parasites will be excited when you're dead"? really, modest mouse? "the parasites will love you when you're dead." - sparklehorse, 1995. |

| Hello Saferide – Get Sick Soon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| she is so honest about love. | |
| Third Eye Blind – Monotov's Private Opera Lyrics | 16 years ago |
proof that stephan seems to never lose hope. there are so many songs about situations in which I'd be letting myself die and he's still saying he'll try again and it's not going to kill him. |
| Brand New – You Stole Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| a lot of this album reminds me of childhood. it makes me feel that a repressed childhood memory has come back to him and it's fcking him up good. | |
| Brand New – Bought a Bride Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| this whole album scares the hell out of me. it seems like he means every word too much for it to be fictional or metaphorical. it seems like he is truly going through something awful and truly going crazy and I truly understand. | |
| Brand New – At the Bottom Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| YES. | |
| Kevin Devine – Carnival Lyrics | 16 years ago |
all that sounds plausible. i definitely think you're right about him 'overdoing it' and landing himself in the hospital. however, i think the 'soon she won't be real either' part, all that, sounds like he thinks he's going to die and none of this will matter. |
| Kevin Devine – Carnival Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think 'quit the carvnial' means he just stepped away from everything. the people, the drugs, the chaos, etc. the rest of the song...eh, it could mean any number of things. | |
| Dear and the Headlights – It's Gettin' Easy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
he's taking anti depressants. that's all there is to it. anyone who's taken anti depressants can tell you that it really just kind of stifles your mind. you can't think too clearly or too deeply-- which seems to be pretty much the whole point of taking anything to begin with. it just makes you smile and go through the motions and you don't quite feel whole or genuine or really much of anything at all. to me, the line about 'the executioner' just sounds like he's ... I don't know, because he's taking the pills and his mind's 'cloudy, leveled out,' it's like he might as well be dead. if you can't think, you're nothing. |
| Modest Mouse – The World at Large Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I sort of hear it as he has two options- moving away and starting fresh in hopes that everything will feel different someplace new. the other option being killing himself. | |
| Bon Iver – The Wolves (Act I and II) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
to me, the percussion at the end sounds like running- and that just fits in perfectly with the song. someone's obviously leaving. I'd like to know what the line about sinatra blue means, too. I don't get it. |
| Say Anything – It's a Metaphor, Fool Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's about his penis. | |
| Fall Out Boy – (Coffee's for Closers) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
also, I hear "throw your cameras in the air." and I feel bad for anyone who says this is their best song. it's probably the least shitty on the album, but listen to take this to your grave! |
| Fall Out Boy – (Coffee's for Closers) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
change will come/I will never believe; everyone's always promising change- things will get better, we'll be okay one day, etc. nothing ever does change, though. hence "I will never believe in anything again." |
| Sparklehorse – Saint Mary Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I heard there was more than just antidepressants and sleepaids. but it's only rumor. I dunno. this is probably my favorite sparklehorse song. it is just so sad. |
| Sparklehorse – Apple Bed Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Does anyone know who the woman featured on this song is? | |
| Elliott Smith – The White Lady Loves You More Lyrics | 17 years ago |
there is more than one WHITE drug on earth, jeez. it could be about anything. I personally would initially think heroin, but then he says "need a metal man just to pick up your feet" and heroin's certainly not something you'd use to 'pick up your feet'- it'd be more of a 'to lie down and rest', so I don't know how much sense that makes. |
| Elliott Smith – King's Crossing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"I don't care if I fuck up I'm going on a date With a rich white lady Ain't life great? Give me one good reason not to do it (Because we love you) So do it" doesn't matter if I fuck up- I'm ODing on heroin anyway, I'll be dead anyway. gimme one reason not to do it. because we love you isn't good enough. so I'll do it anyway. |
| Simon and Garfunkel – Mrs. Robinson Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I don't really get what it means- but the entire song wasn't written for the graduate. just parts were- and because it was such a great start, they then turned it into a full song. jeez. | |
| Bright Eyes – The Difference in the Shades Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"the green's still close to green, my love, and I believe we are the same." always makes me think of spring, newness -- they're still green, they're still new and young, even after everything they've been through. everything they've seen. |
| The Goo Goo Dolls – Here Is Gone Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Well. This is what I think-- "I got my defenses when it comes to your intentions for me." Pretty obvious. He fears that the person he's speaking to has something other than good intentions. Maybe he thinks they're getting ready to leave him, or just hurt him in some way. "And we wake up in the breakdown of the things we never thought we could be" Maybe he never quite thought he could get to where he was. I take this as he's in a bad part of his life, but maybe I'm just trying to make every line fit into my life. And perhaps the person he's speaking to is also in a similar place. "I'm not the one who broke you, I'm not the one you should fear." Quite obviously, someone's hurt her and she now fears that he will do the same. "We got to move you, darlin." I suppose this could be taken in any number of ways, but I personally see it as that he feels he needs to get her out of there. Into someplace new, where maybe they'll both be okay again. "talk to me I can feel you fallin' and I wanted to be all you need" Maybe they're losing their initial connection...he feels she is falling away from him, and if she won't talk to him, he thinks, how can I be all you need? He wants to save her, but she won't let him. "I am no solution to the sound of this pollution in me" He can't fix himself; he can't get rid of the pollution. "And I was not the answer so forget you ever thought it was me." Perhaps he cannot fix her either. And in the end, I think he realizes he can't stay with her. Though he wanted to save her and vice-versa, he can't. |

Isn't it: Pick me, pick me, yeah You can even pay them ? |
| The Appleseed Cast – A Dream For Us Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is absolutely beautiful. | |
| Third Eye Blind – Semi-Charmed Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
first of all, this is my favourite song in the galaxy. secondly, "I speak to you like the chorus to the verse" is probably my favourite line in any song. well, except for "I've never been so alone and I've never been so alive", in motorcycle drive by. thirdly, I take the whole 'I speak to you like the chorus to the verse" thing to mean that they just understand each other, they flow together, etc. a chorus and verse go belong together and make sense together and compliment each other. |

| Bright Eyes – Patient Hope in New Snow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| gosh, I made so many typos in that last comment. let's pretend that didn't happen. | |
| Bright Eyes – Patient Hope in New Snow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| things are falling apart, the relationship is ending and he knows it. the other person has lost interest and it's clear that they don't want to be with you anymore. but you doesn't want to give up - because there was a time when this person was all you needed, they completed you. everything's going on around you, but nothing's ok without this person's devotion. somehow you still have hope in the believe that all the good will come back and all the sadness will have been worth it and everything will be better than ever. | |
| Bright Eyes – Nothing Gets Crossed Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| oh, and I love how he references tim of the good life/cursive as well. | |
| Bright Eyes – Nothing Gets Crossed Out Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I really admire conor for always putting himself out there so nakedly. | |
| Bright Eyes – Let's Not Shit Ourselves (To Love and to Be Loved) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
As I pass in a car buried under the influence i just love that line i love conor's voice, every word is filled with excessive passion i just love it. |
| Bright Eyes – Train Under Water Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think the main idea is this -- he knows that the world is going to end, and all of this -everything, every second, every word, every action- will have been wasted and futile. but while we're here, there's nothing to do but make the best of what we've got. he's not going to give up and stop being a good person just because the world will one day end. he'll still say thank you and wish good luck upon everyone he meets. |
| Bright Eyes – Sunrise, Sunset Lyrics | 18 years ago |
basically, everything ends sometime that's what I get from it |
| Bright Eyes – Something Vague Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I love how in every song, conor sings of such intimate things. hearing about his dream and all that just makes me feel so connected to him. he lets everything out and sings it for the world to hear. I admire his courage. | |
