| Ben Howard – Keep Your Head Up Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
This stanza is missing: And I showed my body to the sea again, And I laughed at her for bein' so cruel. And I left these broken bottles, and empty corridors. And I walked right on through. And I never, I never dream of you. Oh honey I never, I never dream of you. I think it's important because of the mention of "empty corridors," maybe referencing that he's left this girl/unhealthy relationship behind? |

to me, being colorblind represents the blinder's the narrator has put on themselves. before they met their love, they thought themselves incapable of love. they had a simple life, and everything was boring- black and white. and all of a sudden, they meet someone who turns their world upside down, who has an effect that no one else has ever had. so now they're ready to come out of their shell. they needed someone to really reach in, and pull them out, but now they are ready; they are fine. |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Sister Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i always got the impression that his sister had lived an awful life. whenever i heard the first stanza, i always thought that he was talking about his little sister being taken advantage of ("wandering fingers"). like, his parents were supposed to be the ones taking care of her, and protecting her from evils ("supposed to be glorious and fine") when they were actually the ones causing the evil. and that's why he would want to be "hard on the family" (because they abused her) and now, because she's had a fucked up childhood, she gets married to a deadbeat drunkard, because she's never had a normal relationship. i dunno, maybe i'm reading into this wrong. |

my friend choreographed a dance to this song. across the stage there was a white sash, stretching the entire length of the stage, about a foot high. and it was composed of about 8 dancers, moving across the stage, following the path of the sash (which signified the path of life). they weaved over, under, and across the sash, kind of like saying that the path of life is only a general guideline. and it was mainly solos pieced together, one solo would begin when the dancer before them was about halfway across the stage. but sometimes, even if only for a count of 8 or two, there would be a small duet, their paths would cross. everyone travels the road of life differently, but sometimes you need someone to help you get where you're going. there was alot of fast, shaking, almost whiplash type movement, followed by slow, sustained extensions. the piece as a whole was about growing up. it was beautiful. |

| All Time Low – Remembering Sunday Lyrics | 18 years ago |

my friend told me that this was also written about alex's brother (who committed suicide) but this is my take on it: alex loves this girl so much, and at first, she's skeptical on the idea of love. as she spends more and more time with him, alex falls head over heals, and so does she. but the girl's terrified of love, so she leaves town, without telling alex first. he doesn't even know, so when he finds out, he turns to drinking for the first couple days. "two eggs don't last like the feeling of what he needs" he wants her with him, memories can't satisfy someone forever. the eggs are a metaphor for his last memory of her. then he decides to ask around, see where she went. nobody knows, but he keeps searching, hoping one day he'll find her. unfortunately, he never does. the girl still has the upper hand though. she can check back on him, make sure he's doing okay, without him knowing she was there. OR she committed suicide, but alex never found out, and never knew how much she really loved him. either way, both parties loved each other, but the girl was too afraid to stick around. |
