Dionne Warwick – That's What Friends Are For Lyrics 18 years ago
The song means that Burt Bacharach wanted to save a lesser song, as this, for a disease all the performers were glad that they did not have.

It's a shrill, sincere, clinging, annoying song that says: "OH, YA HAVE CANCER? SHAME! *let me know what I can* do to help, old friend"

And what happens when the cancer woman finally needs the "friend" - they are not picking up their cell, or they are helping their neighbor's daughter-in-law move, or going to a graduation.

As a post 9/11 song, absolute fluff. Almost no comments here--even the loudest of the bunch, SONGFACTS.COM had 3 comments, and: no song color or another of songfact's inventions: the song's "zodiac". Which people of what zodiac sign like it (seems all songs are blue--and all zodiacs are aries or capricorn - or would that be, people foolish enough to give away such information. Must be checked out!)

If anyone can listen to this song now and come aways with a word, if it were not "trite" it would be wrong. Just an opinion, of course, of what the song means to *me* - what I love about SongMeanings.com - the absolute freedom of expression.

Little River Band – Lonesome Loser Lyrics 18 years ago
This song to me means that anyone *else's* pain, desperation, loneliness is easy to bear. The speed of the song is breezy an dlusty and happy. The pretty 1970s harmonies sound a bit silly in 2007, and no one in that band sounds lonely. Works well as -
a) gimmick song to mock your friends;
b) a way to get back at an ex-girlfriend/boyfriend;
c) a song to make people leave your house.

Wow. September 11, 2001 made so many songs sound 20 times as trite as they were anyway.

All said though, could be a case of the band putting together a decent song and adding the "lonesome loser" lyrics because they just "happened" - as Genesis' "No Son Of Mine."
