Fiona Apple – Use Me (Bill Withers cover) Lyrics 17 years ago
Missme,
This song is actually a cover, which, unfortunately, means that there's no studio version. (to my knowledge)
It's originally a song by Bill Withers of the same name, and the original really is very, very good, so take a listen.

But yes. That's why at the start of the live recorded version (or at least, the one I have) she says "You like Bill Withers? You like Bill Withers? Go get Bill Withers. Here's an example".
So yeah. Listen to the lady. Go get Bill Withers.

I'm pretty sure it's
"My -odds- are stacked"
That is all

Elliott Smith – Coming Up Roses Lyrics 18 years ago
The imagery in this song is perhaps the most vivid of all Elliott's songs.
It's very poetic, and fraught with metaphors and ambiguities.

To me, though, this song just speaks of the awkward, difficulties of life,
"I'm a junkyard full of false starts"
and the way people are always struggling to stay above the water, always hiding things, and always just barely making it through the day out of pure luck, because there's no organisation, no purpose, no drive in their lives;

"So you got in a kind of trouble that nobody knows
And you're coming up roses everywhere you go
Red roses"

But that's just me. I adore this song.

Elliott Smith – King's Crossing Lyrics 18 years ago
Somebody has probably already brought this up, but who knows exactly what is being said at the start?

I can make out something like:

"drive away..."
"Same time, brother"
"Get out of town,"
"Got a white man..."
"I'm the wolf man"
