I love how they can make a song about how great they are and not come of as vain. (We're the prettiest girls you've ever met) I just love the little role call thing at the beginning. The only real reason I like this song so much, probably. The punky attitude is definitely the best thing about these guys! (girls, I guess) |

Well I definitely always assumed it wasn't rape - maybe I'm just naive, but I think rupeelove has a good point about "you wept but your soul was willing". Anyway, naiveté or otherwise, I see the song as being they have (consensual) sex, she gets pregnant, they birth the baby in a ditch, the baby dies, and with no way to be together and even the symbol of their love lying dead, they throw themselves over the cliff in desperation, arm in arm. Yeah? If nothing else its just AS possible as the negative interpretation. The image of "and while the seagulls are crying, we fall but our souls are flying" is just too poetic... I can't accept a line like that in a song about rape: the connotations are just too positive. |

I love this song! and I always thought it was so funny that stations refused to play it in the States... cause north of the border, it was WAAY overplayed on my local station. =P But I can forgive overplaying of good songs. ^^ |
