I beliieve this song is about someone who is into necromancy and necrophelia. Possibly even someone who does autopsies. So while doing the personal taxidermy (or business), this person gets an overwhelming feeling that they have felt before. A feeling that they need to fulfill by performing sexual acts with the body he/she is working on. (a familiar lust swelling in me- a long and soulful kiss.
This is a great song. The lyrics are amazing and the guitars and drums as well. Great work. |

They are deathmetal. Most of their songs are about killing and maiming people!! Thats what deathmetal is all about! And the guitar style is more of a melodic death/deathmetal style. They have a pretty European style. What the hell do you think the last name Eschbach is???
Brian Eschbach is one of the guitarists and writes most of the riffs for the band. (says so in an interview). So therefore, a guitarist with a European background will most likely make European-based riffs. And if that person is almost completely the sole provider of riffs for the band, the band will have a European style to it: Melodic Deathmetal. |

I will also have to agree with blackmiasma. Gorilla honing trigger finger seems to refer to the link between humanity and barbarism. Seems to say, the only real difference between man and animal (ie gorilla) is technology, and the ablility to use it. Guns and such. |

I believe this song is about a vampiric being. the title, elder misanthropy helps to clarify a bit. "Elder" is usually used to denote great vampires. The strongest. And misanthropy is the hatered of humankind.
Although, it is quite possible that the song could just be about a forsaken warrior.

Most definitely a werewolf. "I awaken, deep in the grasp or frozen pines, not a shred of clothing, yet I feel no cold". Werewolves are a lot of the time written and spoken about in a cold climate. ie frozen pines. And he has not a shred of clothing yet he feels no cold. Obviously he is covered in fur so it insulates him.
And the most obvious indication that it is about a werewolf is the line, "I am born into this wolfen form, in seek of human flesh". |

The black dahlia murder is most definitely death metal, and has become more death metal over the years. Their earlier renditions were a bit on the hardcore side though. But, they are also a little black metal. Just a little. Songs like "thy horror cosmic" illustrate my point. |

Trevor does both the highs and lows on the album and live. Brian only does a high or low in a concert when 2 simultaneous voices are supposed to be heard in reference to the albums. |

I totally agree with the whole "abortion" thing. "abomination, born in a union of hate (killed in the name of the free). A reference to the bad relationship. Born in a union of hate. It must have been a bad relationship. "killed in the name of the free". I assume that this talks about human rights, the right to have an abortion, and how we are free to make that choice. The baby was killed in the name of all those who fought to give us our freedom. Its quite beautifully done. All black dahlia murder lyrics are amazing. Trevor is great. |
