Mother Mother – Body of Years Lyrics 16 years ago
This song seems to me as though it's someone looking back in their past at relationships with people they knew, and no longer associate, or have lost touch with, it's all very much a part of who this person is, but they are no longer around.

As I work in a movie theatre, this song has a sense of personal meaning, outside of however it could be interpreted. I love it.

Interpol – Intro #2 Lyrics 18 years ago
Yes, I would also like to know the differences between this and Next Exit, as I have not encountered any song by the title of Intro #2. If anyone knows, I would appreciate it if they could help me in finding this song.

Interpol – NYC Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't think that "subway she is a porno" refers to any sort of disgust, dirt, grime, or state of being that people may find repulsing, or even attractive on the opposite side of the spectrum. I believe it implies that the subway is a window of sorts into the soul of the city. There in the subway, you see New York, naked, bare of its clothes. You see its variations, not simply its cold depressing nature, you see it all.
The next line, "the pavements they are a mess" may refer to the physical dirt of the city, much more so than the previous line would...

All in all, there's something about that city you just can't put your finger on...this song for me at least, seems to hit close to that feeling.

Interpol – Mind Over Time Lyrics 18 years ago
To me, this seems to have one relatively simple meaning. Whenever I listen to it, the same word comes to mind. Patience. Just sit back and wait, see what's around the bend.

you know, for the longest time when i was listening to this song, I could of sworn I heard him saying dasveedanya or goodbye in Russian. however, now that i listen to it with Spanish in mind...i hear that. the Spanish makes much more sense.

Simon and Garfunkel – Bookends Theme Lyrics 18 years ago
This song touches something inside of me every time I listen to it. It makes me think of my past with an ex of mine...how the days were happy, and it seemed it would never go, and now it's all memory, and photographs. How where I am now isn't quite so sweet and wonderful, and it's made all the more obvious by memory...This song is one of my favorites...always will be.

Interpol – Mind Over Time Lyrics 18 years ago
This is beautiful. I was hoping OLTA would be more lyrically intense than it was, don't get me wrong, it was wonderful. As for me, I haven't got the slightest clue as to what it means. Perhaps it's someone waiting for someone else, like a good friend, or loved one. And they know it will be a long time, so they force themselves to cope with it in their mind...

Nine Inch Nails – In This Twilight Lyrics 18 years ago
I also believe this song has an underlying meaning. For the most part, I agree with most explanations, but I'll go ahead and do a semi-line by line break down.

"watch the sun,
as it crawls across a final time
and it feels like,
like it was a friend.
if it's watching us,
and the world we set on fire
do you wonder,
if it feels the same?"
-There has been nuclear war. Now the end is near, and the sun is about to set for the final time upon humanity. It was nice while it lasted, and the memories of it's warmth may remind him of a friend that was always comforting.

"dust to dust,
ashes in your hair remind me
what it feels like
and I won't feel again
night descends
could I have been a better person
if I could only do it all again"
-Describing the last moments of life, fallout is settling, and he knows soon, he won't feel anything else. It is the end, and he recalls his life, and wonders if he could have been a better person.

Now for the part I find most different from what others have discussed.

"and the sky is filled with light
can you see it?
all the black is really white
if you believe it"
-What I believe these lines mean is that the black, the end, is really a blessing. It's essentially the restart button. The white is life starting over, a near clean slate. In time, the world would clean itself. In time, perhaps the survivors could start over.

Also, something that has come to mind while looking into this song is the Album title. Year Zero. I've seen many look at it as though it were the end of a countdown. However, I see it as the beginning of a new age, the next age of mankind. Year Zero is a new beginning, whether it be good or bad in it's end.
