i think it's like, we all want to be great in the eyes of someone, right? it's just so fantastical, i absolutely love this song! her voice is amazing, the sound just makes you feel like you ARE larger than lifesize, wondersome. it's more than just about love, it's about feeling good about yourself, feeling larger than lifesize. it's about knowing you are someone special. it's sort of mythical, isn't it? i just can't get over how beautiful her words are. |

actually... this song relates quite closely with a bit of my own life. similar experiences, you know it's about a broken, dead, stomped-on relationship, that shouldn't be remembered but shouldn't be forgotten. anyway, for the 'step one:light me on fire' part it's like, you might as well burn me alive for how much you've hurt me 'step two:walk clean away' you don't care, you just walk away because you're not interested 'i won't burn long, and evidence of your done wrong will be gone in seconds i swear' pretty much, i won't hurt that much longer, no one will know how much you've hurt me 'but if you've got time anyway, why not watch me hurt?' basically, since you're such an awful person, why not stick around? it won't take much out of your day and you'll probably enjoy it cause... 'nothing is sweeter than needed revenge. oh that's right, i did nothing, and you were the mean one' here she's continuing this 'oh it'll be fun to hurt me' but oh wait a second i didn't do anything to deserve this, you just heaped it on for nothing. 'in fact, you even broke my good tape deck' for a while i was like 'what's a tapetag?' because i didn't look at the lyrics. but today, when i saw it says tape deck, i looked it up and it's something used to record tapes, i think? anyways, seeing as she's a musician, this makes perfect sense that she would be bitter at him for breaking this. 'in fact, i don't want to be friends' well...this also makes sense. sometimes, when a relationship fails, you can't just say 'well we'll just move on and have a good friendship' because it just doesn't happen. she's probably also saying 'you're wouldn't even make a good friend, you're so terrible' um....yes. this is just my interpretation. from the way i hear it, it sounds like a relationship she wanted. a crush sort of thing. this guy probably made her feel like it was possible, like she had a chance, but then turned around and crushed her dreams brutally, and now she's decided she wants nothing to do with him. i love it [: |
