Haha. Well anyways, lyrics are like art. NO meanings are wrong - it's your own opinion. I like what "neverlosttrak" said though. I never thought about it like that. [: And astrology is just looked at as a fun thing for me, kinda coincidental, however, that is crazy! Because my mom's an aries and my dad's a libra... they are crazy together! Haha |

First off, I would just like to say that this is, when I analyze, by far my MOST FAVORITE song ever. And APC is one of my top bands. Maynard James Keenan, and both Tool and APC as a whole are incredible. I thought it would deserve my best effort in when I think this song means. I agree with what many of you have said in general... :] He is throwing this/these person(s) the obvious by making it clear. The person could have the obvious at their back, not noticing it. A name, a face is in her memory that is tossed or thrown down among a million. As to show, who she spends her time with is no one special to her. They’re all the same to her, nothing significant. She doesn’t see the true allure of him, therefore it’s as if he’s meaningless. He is finding it hard to not feel disappointed, hurt and ignored by this person. He’s seen this person, for who they are, but they were oblivious to it. He sees their mind naked, laid out before him. Perhaps physically as well. They were unaware of him, and his sense to know and perhaps love them, truly. But they just don’t see him for who he is… He put it right in front of their face To really see if there’s more than meets the eyes of this the person. They are reckless, and most people just look at this/these person(s) with prejudice eyes. He’s devoted to them, and he doesn’t get the reward back, the feelings aren’t mutual. He’s anticipating more than he should from someone who’s been hurt, wounded. They are probably very numb and not willing to show love or care… not in a deep, passionate, and meaningful way like he does. He most likely knows all along that they are too wounded to give back what he gives, but nevertheless he still sticks around for them. He sees through their outer surfaces, he sees them. He knows them, he possibly might love them. But nothing comes from all of it. They don’t see him for him… they don’t see him for all the care and love he has shown them. They use him, possibly even for his body. The relationship is not equal nor balanced… and he’s disappointed. He thought that this person would be special enough to notice him for him… but she/they were just them all. He didn’t get the connection and mutual feeling that he was hoping for. That's my interpretation of it. It's like art; artwork represents different things for different people. :] -Jess |
