| Thao And Mirah – Likeable Man Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Huh, always heard it as "before your debt is due", this is kind of eye-opening though, and it makes sense with the bridge about the mothers. | |
| Thao And Mirah – Sugar and Plastic Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I think it's "and the knights gave up their night vision", but I'm not sure enough to edit it. | |
| Right Away, Great Captain! – Oh No, I Tried Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I feel like this is from the brother's aspect. Mostly because he feels guilty, and he's glorifying his brother: "What if you could touch my hand Through the deep sweat sweating For a guilty, guilty man What if you could see my heart Would you say oh brother You're the reason that we still don't fall and the reason that we still don't starve" I could be misinterpreting it though. |

| Sleigh Bells – Riot Rhythm Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
What I'm hearing: You've got a smart best friend and she's okay, Have you had a smile today, Close the door take your seats, Or else you need to play for keeps. Dear heart don't stop fighting, We're going to fight the lightning, It's not hell or heaven Just like riot rhythm! You've gotta march! ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah You've gotta march! ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah You've got a smart best friend and she's okay, Have you ever felt that way, Straight-A kids like a treat She stands up and takes the heat. Dear heart don't stop fighting, We're going to fight the lightning, It's not hell or heaven Just like riot rhythm! You've gotta march ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah |

I second this. Also, becerro, I'm pretty sure gitana isn't just girl, but gypsy girl. |

| Imogen Heap – Clear the Area Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I love this. | |
| Coeur de Pirate – Berceuse Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| And by "blow" I meant "strike" | |
| Coeur de Pirate – Berceuse Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
My attempt at a slightly literal translation. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm no expert. And I really don't understand the last verse. Berceuse - Lullaby Dream after dream I miss you And the pains do not disappear And day after day I dream Of running very softly to you But you, you don't know me anymore After this wrongness, I have truly lost you And she arranges herself at your side While I am forgetting your kisses And without suffering I smile My regrets rest in his book And without smiling I suffer Because he has had my last breath Wrong after wrong I am stuck And my tears you do not take back. And blow after blow I give He does not let me go He does not truly know me And you, you do not search for me at the instant Nevertheless I search because I have let you go For a time in this evening And without suffering I smile My regrets rest in his book And without smiling I suffer Because he has had my last breath |

| What a fun song! :D | |
| Secret And Whisper – XOXOXO Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is stretching it I know, but I've always felt that the song's about a former prostitute adapting to her new life. "stormy and windy night remind me of you tonight wild and fragile" She's wild and fragile, because she's not used to living a normal life, and she's very impressionable. "shes drawing x and o's into her pantyhose" This struck me as something that a whore might do. Couldn't come up with anything else. "we were walking to the corner store when she'd cry and start to hide" The perhaps being on the corner reminds her of her previous life, explaining why she'd be so upset. Maybe it's even the corner where she used to "work". "we were talking about the dinosaurs and how they died, and how they died" The narrator is the one trying to help her out, he attempts to have an intellectual conversation, and treats her as an individual capable of thought. After all, if you treat someone so impressionable like trash, how could they amount to anything more? I'm really not sure about the other lyrics. But this is just my speculation. Thanks for reading. =D |

| Jonathan Coulton – Just As Long As Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Aw, this song's adorable. =] And I normally hate Southern/Western/Whatever-type-music-this-is. |

| Owl City – The Bird and the Worm Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I love how he pronounces anemones as anenomes. | |
| fun. – Be Calm Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song brought me to tears. Sort of the opposite of its point, but yeah. I absolutely love it beyond words. He's just so intense when he sings "be calm" that I can't. | |
| fun. – Walking the Dog Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
So I'm confused. fun.'s myspace says "I found a verse and a chorus", but it doesn't sound like he's singing that at all. It sounds like what krikitarmy said, "I've got a better set of cords." It makes more sense anyway, plus verse would have to be two syllables if those were correct. I dunno though. Maybe they felt lazy, assumed these lyrics were right, and copy/pasted this to their lyrics on myspace. Haha. |

| fun. – Benson Hedges (Demo) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| By "Should've been cutting out my eyelids, You'll never guess what baby did when she got home", I'm pretty sure that this is the same idea as one sleeping with one's eyes open, perhaps so that Nate can constantly keep an eye on "baby". | |

ZeeGeeEmm I was getting on today to say the exact same thing. I'm glad someone thinks the same thing. |

Question. It says something about Goodbye, Bear being a hidden track in Love Me Dead. How do you find this? |

| Tally Hall – Welcome to Tally Hall Lyrics | 17 years ago |

As for the meaning, they named their band after the mall Tally Hall, in which there is an arcade store called Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum. :] |

| The Format – Does Your Cat Have a Mustache? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "The largest guard the treasure chest" rather than "The largest scar, the treasure chest" | |
| The Format – I'm Actual Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think he's using a metaphor, like she's a plant "I placed you on a window sill" and "I found sunlight 6 hours away. You watered me down 'til I drifted abound Somewhere far from your shade. " |
