I think my favorite part of this song is:

I wasnt lookin for nobody when you looked my way
It's really a song you wanna hear when your either already at the club or when you're going somewhere to dance and get crazy with your girls. It's so true though, dancing is such a stress breaker. And no matter how bad of a moon I am in, (usually on my way to work) this song comes on and I get so pumped when I hear her sing those lines b/c it makes me want to shake my stress away like that minute but then I remember I am going to work and I can't. haaa ok sorry this is getting long but yeah i like that part and this is def one of those songs u go out with ur girls to and danceeee the night away and forget ur worries...thats the best feeling and best stress buster!!! NO GUYS! JUST GIRLS! (i smell a dane cook joke coming) |

I'm no rocket scientist, but I am pretty sure if you have the choice of going to a ghetto neighborhood in a completely foreign place, or going to the beach where it's safe and heavily populated with rich people and clean streets without little kids roaming around with rifles.....the choice seems so clear but maybe it's just me. |

Favorite line:

It almost sounds like she is with someone, whose ex was mean to him, or cheated (the whole whore thing!) This line is just amazing. It's almost like she is saying "ive been there for all the best things in his life, and not once did he look back, or did it involve you!"

it is really something special to still be with your highschool sweetheart. Even if you weren't together in highschool, it makes it even more special because young love is so innocent and to grow from that years later and be together is an amazing thing. And I think in this song, she is saying they were flirty and good friends in highschool and most likely neighbors, you can take it how you want to...I take it like they were just good friends:
"We were cool back in high school
ooh I really liked you.."
that kinda says she was admiring him as a little more than a friend but nothing came of it, and now they are together and it is something that she knew was so meant to be and now it is. It's a very beautiful idea. Great song. |

AGREED-with most of you. This is definitely the best song to kick off the beginning of the CD. Simplicity is key in this song. And I HAVE to agree with a couple people that this song can easily make you feel so much emotion that you cry. This is not the first song of their's that had made me cry. They put so much into their music. The last line of the song is definitely perfection and does make you have this feeling of hope. sweater_poorly_knit REALLY made my heart swell when she described how she was driving thru the mountains and this song came on and made her tear up. I completely understand what you mean. This music just overcomes your soul and you can't help but feel emotion listening to it. You feel your eyes get deep and your heart beat fast and then slow. It's crazy what effects music can have on you. Someone also mentioned how cool it feels to put this song (among MANY OTHER Coldplay songs) on your ipod/discman and walk around places...you almost feel like your in your own music video and your thoughts run away with you. Incredible band. Incredible music. Incredible feelings. Incredibly deep profound people on here. good work guys. its nice to know people appreciate good music like this. |

Such a good song but what kinda ruins it is when Ashlee had her show on MTV, there was an episode of her and her record execs making this song and they had a huge Orchestra in the sound room and while they recorded the really pretty background music of the song she was prancing around and saying how bored she was. She should be ashamed. |

Shakira is truly a talent. Her uniqeness really draws me to her. And she doesn't overdo it, she always seems to captivate me but doesn't have her lyrical or music style to impress the media, she does it for her love and appreciation for music.
I digress, this song is one of the many amazingly lyric-ed songs she has written. I think Jac_2500 definitely hits the nail on the head with the interpratation of it; so I just want to add how impressive it is when Shakira can not only write her own music and words but when she sings it, it comes from her soul. Her songs literally are her canvas and each lyric has its own way of being expressed alll the way from her stomach. She is truly an icon. It's hard to just wrap it up in a paragaph but when I listen to her music, it relaxes me and makes me want to sing out with her. :) |
