Shit has no one taken this seriously? JMT and Vinnie in particular load their songs up with more references than 95% of any other musician I can think of. It's another one of his fantastic songs about the state of the world. God is Sick combined with the Gaza reference for evidence. Big Pun for Big Punisher who passed away far to early. The US's so called war on terror. I mean references in this song are everywhere. Even his conspiracy theory references are here. One of the most intelligent rappers of our time and probably of all time. |

It seems to be a more psychological viewpoint than anything. Take a look past obvious interpretations and go deeper. Pain is one of the strongest physical sensations we can feel. It is entirely possible for one to become excited by pain. It is a physical fact. It is not the norm but it is possible. It is also possible to be unable to feel. The inability to feel connected to anything, to anyone is the worst sort of pain a regular person can imagine but some people are actually born like this. They cannot feel emotions yet it doesn't scare them since it's the only thing they know. I am rather interested in the line "anger and agony, better than misery", it implies so much in such a simple sentence. The other possible reference would be to the side affects of drug withdrawl and drug addiction which Adam unfortantly did suffer through. When on drugs a person loses their ability to care and to feel. Oxycontin in paticular is quite nasty because it is, in essence, a weaker form of heroin which causes cell death in the endorphin center of the brain leading in the inability to feel good. My belief is that Adam, at the time he wrote this, was trying to express the fear and pain he felt at being disconnected from life. |

Er, cktaresh you can't really use Blood Brothers and Dream of Mirrors b/c it was stated by Maiden a while back that the entire Brave New World album was a concept album based around the book by Aldeus Huxley whose name I just butchered. Still you were correct everywhere else. |

It's not anti-war, its pretty much anti- going to war for totally retarded reasons. Troops getting shot because of political games. It's also an excellent song to honor the bravery of those who fought there. And the Longest Day is an excellent film. BTW Bruce served in the British Territorial Army. |

lol, Reise Reise does mean arise arise in an older dialect of German not used anymore. It was popular with the german submarine navy as a wake up call. A little bit of research will tell you that. Also the fact that Rammstein confirmed it meant Arise should tell you something. Last, Rammstein likes to do a lot of word play in their songs, examples include their name which was for the Ramstein airforce base incident but spelled with two M's it means battering ram. Another eaxample is in the song du hast. when you listen you do not if they are saying du has which is you have or du hasst which means you hate. People need to start using the brains and think before they type rather than spewing useless shit on the posting boards. |
