| Flobots – Handlebars Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I'm really surprised how many people here say this song is about America and President Bush. You guys need to take our government a less for granted. Yeah, our governments a little bit corrupt, and our Predident's a dumbass, but you aren't starving or in a jail. You're looking for a perfect society, and that isn't possible, which is proved by this song. A little innocent kid showing off to his friends turns into a smart, ambitious young adult who turns power-hungry and becomes a world-corrupting dictator. The song isn't just about America. Its about Hitler, Caesar, the popular girl who rules the high school, the rich plantation & slave owner in the 1800s, the angry college professor, and the coolest kid on the playground. Simply, it's about the prgression of power and arrogance going bad, anywhere and anybody and anytime. | |

| Soulja Boy – Yahhh! Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think this song has some deeper meanings. It's very satirical on the womanization in many modern rap songs. Okay anyone who takes this song seriously, don't be so dumb! Even dumbass Soulja Boy laughs during the song, they're playin around. Of course he's a bad rapper, everyone knows that. His songs got popular over the internet because people thought they were fun. Anyways. I like this song cause it makes me laffff |

| Spring Awakening – And Then There Were None Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Thanks, that makes sense. I know the context & I saw the show, I'm just not the most poetic person when it comes to lyrics and didn't quite get what he was specifically talking about. | |
| Matchbox Twenty – How Far We've Come Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's kind of funny because I think it's the opposite of the video. It's common knowledge that sometimes videos have nothing to do with the song though... I think this song is about like disappointment in humanity, and realizing it or even realizing your part in it. It's pretty angry and negative (but in a good way cause I like the song :P). But the whole "let's see how far we've come" thing is like, how civilized are we? I think. How far have we come since cavemen, and how much have we really evolved? Well, we're still having wars and we still have so many bad, ignorant people and we're not being very smart by destroying our planet, so probably not too far. And I think there definitely could be a Christian theme to it, but it's not completely set in there. It's not about the Apocalypse, but heaven and hell are in there in some ways. Finding out how far we've come after we're gone? Sounds like an afterlife to me. Especially looking back at your life before it's gone, like asking for forgiveness, etc. and saying your goodbyes (could be a metaphor for asking for final forgiveness.) idk I'm not very Christian so I'm not sure about all the things that might tie in or whatever. If you really think about how crap the world is, it probably makes you think a lot about your own life. "I sat down on the street took a look at myself, say where you going when you know the world is headed for hell." (I think that's what it says, these lyrics are wrong). And the first two stanzas, I think this guy just has a epiphany one day, "the world is headed for hell". And it changes his outlook on himself and everybody else's lives. But the "gone, gone, baby it's all gone" lines I totally can't connect. I mean the "gone" part makes sense, duh the world is gone. But I don't totally get what it's saying. The rest of the song totally makes sense taken not-quite-literally. |

| Spring Awakening – Totally Fucked Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Well this play is for teenagers and for adults to remember how it is to be one. Adolescence is a great and horrible age because when you're an adult, you forget how it is. Nobody understands teenagers, that's why there's so much angst. That's why this play reaches out to people; it hits teenagers at the root of all their problems, and gets adults to realize, hey I was like that once. And this song is so great. In everyday life me and my friend who's another Spring Junkie will just be like "There's a moment you know..." whenever something shitty happens and we'll just start laughing about how fucked we are. But it's really about when you're life is fucked in general; and hey, if you're a teenager, then when is it not? |

| Spring Awakening – The Song Of Purple Summer Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I can back up what Kajosa said, it's on some official website. Adolescent-adult=spring-summer and purple summer is a flower. All of that's referenced through the play a ton (flowers & seasons). Some parts of this song I hate, but everytime they go into the harmony on "stallions" I ignore the random reference of corn because it's so beautiful. |

| Spring Awakening – The Dark I Know Well Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
No, it's about a girl who gets molested by her father and the other girl by somebody, not necessarily specified. Really intense song... even more so live. If it wasn't in a musical I would say it's open to interpretation, but it's not, this song tells a story. |

| Foo Fighters – Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Dave Grohl is funny ^_^ and if you watch the video, the drummer (idk his name SORRY I feel like a loser) he's cool to just like chillin for the first two minutes, and then doing it wrong like Dave. OH YEAH and there's proof that they planned to forget the words. Both musicians messed up, and the knew to feed each other the wrong lyrics & cues. Plus of course everyone has said how much Dave Grohl lovs Led Zeppelin... Anyways, people who are offended by this need to take the stick out their ass cause it's no disrespect towards Zep, it's just dang funny. |

| Sublime – Santeria Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Damn, Sublime has some seriously opinionated fans and haters! Lol. I don't know anything about this band, just really like this song & had no idea what it was about. Personally the lyrics don't really "move" me, I like songs where the lyrics match the feel & emotion of the music. (I'm a Pink Floyd fan.) And this one's like angry story with a fun catchy song... but that doesn't take away from it at all. Just doesn't add to it for me. But yeah its a nice song, I love ska. Oh yeah, and I don't think it suggests he kills the guy or hits his girlfriend. "If I could find that heina and that Sancho that she'd found Well I'd pop a cap in sancho and I'd slap her down" Like after somebody finds out his girlfriends been cheatin, he says "I'm gonna kill that asshole/that bitch!" but most likely wouldn't commit murder. So I don't think it "encourages mindless violence" like whoever-it-was that person said, which is totally dumb... To the losers: Don't go post things on a band you hate. You're lame. Nobody likes you. Sorry. To the people with big egos: That cool if you love this band, but if you do, it doesn't mean they're the best ever. And it doesnt mean the bands you hate are horrible. You're opinions are not supreme over all. Sorry, had to get that out there :) |

| Green Day – Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Okay so you know how in the beginning of this song the short intro is repeated twice before it starts? Does anyone know why? And there's like a sound after the second one, sounds like "five" or "f**k" but I really don't know. Can anyone tell me, cause it's really random and I wanna know why they did it. | |
| Pink Floyd – Welcome to the Machine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I totally get this song and identify with it, now I realize th meaning isn't obvious and this is only my interpretation. But I guess this is one of those songs that can have different meanings. But being an intelligent teenager who is expected so much of, I totally get it. It's about a kid who grows up, not a typical kid. Like a rebel, but not completely. Since the song is mostly music, you have to take more from the feel of the song rather than the lyrics only. It gives almost a creepy feel, like trapped. He's trapped in society, his expectations. And it's definitely unhappy because of it. As to the lyrics, the kid grew up "provided with toys and scouting for boys" but not liking it the same as the other kids. He wanted to be something other than a middle-class, almost-happy business worker or whatever, so he didn't want to go to school, he wanted to learn guitar. The guy talking the song, saying "welcome my son", is like a person representing society, which actually is the machine. It's like, yep, you didn't want it, we know, but that's how it all happens. He was filling in time, meaning he didn't like it, he was waiting. Second part, I don't completely get. I get them separately, the machine told him what he wants, "it's alright, we told you what to dream", and then it says he dreamed of being a rockstar, which obviously he did thats what it suggests, but that's not what the machine would tell him to dream. So I don't get it, maybe it's supposed to be separated. We told you what to dream, but you dreamt this anyways instead. The ending, and the other places saying Welcome to the machine, and then the noises and people talking at the end show that he didn't get what he wanted, he's part of the machine, he's probably got a wife he doesn't love and works too much at a job he doesn't like but pretends to be alright. But hopefully they broke out of that machine and became Pink Floyd... idk if the song was written as an autobiography or not. If you think this is about an ACTUAL machine, like robots... are you serious? I heard all that about it being about the music business, and maybe it's true, but the song is way too deep and intense to be about just like an industry. I wish more people liked this song and "got it", it's my favorite Floyd song and maybe one of my faves all-time. But I feel special because I identify with a song that not everybody does, which is cool :P |

| Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Well at first this song completely suggests an addiction to morphine. But if you see the doctor as a metaphor, then it could be some other drug; heroin, acid, something like that. That totally fits, but this is Pink Floyd, you gotta look deeper. Putting together what I looked up about the song and what it means to me, I think it's basically about depression and being forced not to feel it. The doctor is figurative, I totally don't believe it's a real doctor giving him a painkiller or antidepressants. I'm pretty sure it's just people in general expecting too much from him, like "You can't be depressed, you need to play a show." I'm not familiar with the entire album, but I know that if it fits in with the story he plays a show after this, so that would fit. As for the thing that makes him "Comfortably Numb", I really don't know. Not an antidepressant, but maybe a drug (heroin, morphine, or something like it). Or maybe even just closing off his mind from his depression, but I doubt it. 1st Stanza Somebody trying to talk to him about his depression. Chorus/2nd Stanza Actually getting the high. As for "When I was a child..." it's pretty literal. This drug now is like his cold medicine as a kid. "I can't explain, you would not understand This is not how I am" He doesn't like having fake happiness, but it's better than depression; so, Comfortable Numb. Guitar Solo 1 Just plain wicked-awesomeness. Adds to the song cause it's wicked-awesome. 3rd Stanza The "doctor" whoever he is getting him high so he can perform. 2nd Chorus The fleeting glimpse he caught was of happiness. He was happy as a little kid, but he can barely remember it and can't even figure out what it was like anymore. Guitar Solo 2 Same as first but even better. Yeah man this song is awesome, that's what I think it means but if you disagree, then hey, it's art, do what you like with it. |

| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Okay, I've done a ton of research on this song because I absolutely love it and have no idea what it means!!! And what I find, was that nobody knows what it means. The theory that it's about Satanism because it's played backwards is total bull, they would have no idea what it sounds like backwards. But people who analyzed the lyrics have found that it could be about Christianity/Jesus etc, Satanism, mythology (Page and Plant were both into that), or even J.R.R. Tolekin's stuff. Plus supposedly Jimmy Page said he & Robert Plant were sittin and chillin in some house and Jimmy Page started playing, Robert Plant started humming a little, and wrote almost the entire song right then in like 20 minutes. Sounds fake but I've seen people say that a lot of places. Basically, if you want to know the REAL meaning, give up now unless you think you'll be able to make friends with Robert Plant himself. P.S. To those who say this song isn't that great, you don't understand good music. This song is pure genius, that's a genreally accepted fact. It's awesome. But yes, Led Zeppelin does have plenty that are as good, but those are more opinion. |
