My sister asked me to sing at her wedding next year and she gave me this song to consider, and I fell in love with it almost immediately. It's so sweet, so honest, and so full of bliss. It's about realizing that all the pain and heartache that life puts you through is so that you can fully appreciate finding the right person. This song emits the idea that everything bad (or simply hard) that happens in life is for a reason, it is all preparing you and shaping you. When you find someone who makes you so happy and so complete, the hardships don't matter as much anymore, and you don't want to let that go. The night when you realize and celebrate that must be incredible. |

This is one of my favorite 3eb songs. I'm not sure if she died or not, but it's likely. Most of the song is about not being able to get someone out of your head. His plans still had her in them. It's like if you break up with someone, and later you see their birthday or something on your calendar. It brings back so many strong memories. He must have really loved her. "The words they use so lightly, I only feel for you." People say "I love you" like it's nothing, it seems like a conversation filler for some people. hah. With her, though, it was serious, and deeply felt. Now that she's gone, he can't focus. He's living in the memories of her, he's in the background of his own life. Quite an idea. |

What a great song. Seriously. The chorus is amazing. "You want to be dressed in poetry." It's classic: a girl that expects the sun and the moon from a guy, but doesn't nearly deserve it. I also love the line "and I think what I just wrote is going over my head." It's so honest. Rather than say something extremely poetic but has no real depth to it, he's owning up to the fact that it doesn't mean anything, not really. |

Death Cab is so poetic. This song is so hopeful, and so unlike every other bitter break-up song you hear on the radio. Obviously, he cared about this girl enough to want to reassure her. He's not pointing fingers and saying what was wrong, he's just saying that she will find something better than him. Someday, she'll find something so wonderful that he'll just a be a bad dream. It's so relatable. Everyone thinks about things like that at night, just before going to sleep. |

This song is so beautiful. I didn't get it at first, either. I think "love is watching someone die" is an amazing sentiment, though. To me, it means that you would love somebody so much that you stick with them. Through everything. It's talking about staying with someone through the rough patches in life, even through death, because you love them that much. It's about not getting scared, about not running away, and about finding something so beautiful that it makes it all worth it. |
