Dave Matthews Band – Eh Hee Lyrics 18 years ago
I think people are on the right track with confusion. I'm not so sure about the chanting part, but I think I have a good handle on the "chorus."

"Praise God who has many names, but the devil has many more..."

I think he's pointing out his frustration and confusion about why so many people whose purported purpose on Earth is to praise God, but instead spend most of their time condemning things...fighting against different ideals to which they have given "the Devil's name." I think it would be hard to argue that most of the world's conflicts (past and present) stem from cultural or, more frequently, religious/ethnic strife. That's why he takes such a strong stand against religious zealots in this song. Not all religious people, but those who will try to "tell you the answer, no matter the question" and "believe in a neat little world." Translation, the world is not black and white/right and wrong...there are gray areas and people who see things only one way make him crazy...as indicated by the second "verse." In the third verse, I don't think he's saying anything about God (in response to a previous post), but pointing out how we have put ourselves up on a pedestal that we don't belong on. Seriously, we are not as great as we think we are...there are a lot of other organisms that specialize in many of the traits we consider benchmarks of human greatness.

So, to sum up, Dave is frustrated that there are so many people in the world who don't think outside of a nice little bubble created for them and continue to add turmoil and struggle to the world. Also, before people come on saying that my interpretation of Dave's lyrics are bashing Christians, I only ever said religious zealots...which encapsulates a multitude of religions. That's my take. Let me know what you think.
