Yes, underneith they are talking about being puppets to Saddle Creek Records, most likely refering to the fact that they have to do the radio interview. Just to clear up some things though, it is not Conor talking in the interview, it is Todd Fink from the Faint doing a Conor Oberst impression. I think the interview alone can tell what this song is about, being something your not, or trying to change yourself. |

I agree with BillyLiar that the song is about Andy LeMaster from Now It's Overhead. A friend of mine saw Bright Eyes them in DC and Conor said it was about his friend Andy. It is a beautiful song to me about being yourself and not worrying about what others think. To not hide in your "closet" of fear. |
