Dave Matthews Band – Out of My Hands Lyrics 18 years ago
Anyone wonder why he uses the word "pig"? If he's referring to Bush it doesn't really mean much, any insult would do. Neither does "finest fine". No matter who the president is he's almost always shown the same way, suit and tie.
But if its a reference to Osama Bin Laden, starts to make a bit more powerful. To muslims pigs are pretty much the antithesis of what they strive for. Calling Osama a pig is to say he indulges in sex, is lazy, gluttonous, stays out of the sun, and lacks the spirit or will to actually fight. Basically a horrible muslim. Its far more insulting to Bin Laden then Bush.
Also Bin Laden is always seen in some religious garb, his sunday best or "finest fine".
The chorus is to do with Dave or someone losing what faith they have in good and possibly committing suicide over it. Then perhaps finding faith in others around them.

The Killers – Tranquilize Lyrics 18 years ago
Nickweb, because the reference of Bushes may not mean George W specifically. But rather using him to represent one side of the conflict, hence the plural form. Because acting as if Bush is responsible for all conflict is pretty dumb. And Bush 1 reacted to aggression with aggression.
Rather that line is about the biggest current conflict, the west vs terrorism. The west represented by the Bushes while the terrorists are represented by the bombs. The song being about people on both sides wanting the conflict to end.

Dave Matthews – Some Devil Lyrics 18 years ago
It's a bit confusing. The first verse seems to make it like its about a breakup. But the second doesn't.
But I've always viewed this song as being about the death of a spouse, though not a surprised death. Maybe its just a song, maybe its Dave lamenting on how his life will be if his wife ever dies.

The second verse, to me, makes it about death. "always and forever" are the vows you take (basically. everyone means the same thing) that is not taken completely seriously by the character. Until the death happens and now the character understands that he will never love again and how long forever is and how lonely they will be.

Also what keys death is that character wishes they were dead and the other breathing, though all other references to the other are past not present tense. If they wish the other breathing then the other is dead. I think the wish is guilt that the character never expressed (or felt as though they didn't) how much they loved the other person.

The devil and the angel or the 2 people. The character views themselves as bad or having done bad things where as the other was the good that infused with the character. Thats why they want to take the devil out, but can't and have the angel inside and won't let it go.
