We were the aces and they did have a "gun" to arm us with... and we were a town alot bigger than just abilene!! All Jerry and tour asked for was "Ten gold Dollars, and remember Jerry did have one "good hand". I'm still looking the wide world over to find another Honest Man "Last Fair deal in the country" was tour.... So I hope you did put your gold dollar where your love is baby. and got out and experienced the best kept secret in this country! High and in the moment ( everybody prayin, and drinkin that wine) It did seem like you would connect with the boys ( come to daddy, on an inside straight) Cause Ive got no chance of losing this time! For people there, ( at the last show ) It seemed like 75,000 people knew he was on his way out... This song is so sweet, (statements just seem vain at last!) Jerry's love affair with his fans is eternal. And we he sang this to you live, it was so personal, like it was sung from inside you. We truly did go everywhere together, long those roads of gold and silver snow.... Howlin wide, or moaning low.... so many roads to ease my soul Thought I heard a jug band playin' If you don't... who else will!! |

Jerry had been gamblin there, for more than ten good solid years, more like 30... and yes, if anyone could here every story, it would burn off both their ears. Speaking to me in the moment... This song is so literal the meaning was elusive( never could reach it... just slipped away when i tried...) Like I told you... what i said. steal your face right off your head. In the true moment. with out ego... naked truth. this is a compass for that experience. reminding you where it's at. Nine mild skiddin... reminding us, we are not in control altogether.... but it's alright. ( hot as a pistol... but cool inside.) listen... Jerry says it... YOU KNOW BETTER...
