I think (as many as I see) that it's about forgiving a friend , about a suicide. "what you couldn't do I will", probably talking about living, and pass through pain and all the hardness of life (is that make sense? Im' french, sorry). This is my favorite song. So special for me, "the one", and mysterious, like the writer didn't want us to totally understand, and I find it good. Just real. |

Such a beautiful song and melody... Her voice is amazing too. The girl has been probably so in love and couldn't see how the guy was an ass, I mean how he did not love her really. But in a way she seems to respect him and keep some feelings about him because she's sad but no angry or smg like that. That's why I love it so much. She have the bravery to admit that she has been naive, but she doesn't try to seem insensible. She's just honnest with her heartache. Very touching song, emotional. |

I totally agree with the cutting things. It's obvious to me that the song shows a pain, and the anger that came from it. If we only listen to the instrumental part.. I don't know. It makes me so concerned. I did deal with cutting problem with a friend a to me it's like it's her song, like this has been written for her, especially and only for this kind of pain. "she doesn't look, she doesn't see" like she's not realizing what she is doing, how it can be dangerous. "never hurts, nearly works", she is trying to get the pain away by cutting but in fact she can't be free this way even if it's what she's feeling. "something is scratching its way out", it's like it'swhat the song has been written, because now nothing is enough, she can't do more that she already did, and it's like he (they) wrote this song for her, for let go of her rage and anger and everything. etc, etc. I love this song so much. I use to know The Fray only from look after you and how to save a life. These were already so meaningful and personal for me, but this one is much. |
