Rufus Wainwright – Another Believer Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm a bit uncomfortable in saying that it sounds to me rather like a budding relationship betwwen a gay guy and a "straight" guy. Given Rufus's frequently stated crushes on straight guys, I find it hard to put another interpretation on

"Guess what
You got more than you bargained
You got more than you paid for
So give me just one more chance
One more glance
One more hand to hold

You've been on my mind
Though it may seem I'm foolin
Wasting so much time
Though it may seem I'm foolin

What are we gonna do about it?

And give me just one more chance
One more glance
And I will make of you
Yeah I'm gonna make of you
Another believer".

ie. This relationship is more than you expected ("You got more than you bargained") . You mean more to me ("You've been on my mind
Though it may seem I'm foolin
Wasting so much time"). You may think I'm crazy, but give me a chance ("one more glance, one more hand to hold") and I will prove we can be more - I'll make of you another believer.

It makes me uncomfortable in that, if that interpretation is correct, it seems to play into the claim that being gay is a belief rather than inate. Rufus knows better than that, and I hope my interpretation can be refuted.
