This is what Andy said in an interview regarding "the Chariot" line. He's essentially talking about the GA grindcore band, The Chariot: "I am very good friends with the former guitar player for [the Chariot], who had been in the band since it formed. We played in Atlanta on June 3, and before the show my friend came to the show, and he had just left the band [The Chariot]. He came and he was just broken, angry and very upset. He didn't really understand what was happening. The song really has nothing to do with the band in any sense. It has to do with me looking at a friend who has no idea what to do or what he's trying to do, and he's saying "Sweet Jesus I love you no matter what the Chariot says". Its a place where I've been so many times in my life. The truth is, saying I don't care what everyone else thinks, I love you and I swear that I love you. Sometimes you're telling the truth, and sometimes you're not. The song is more of an observation of my friend during this time of uncertainty. It's more of an example of sorts than any disrespect to the band." |
