"You see me smiling, you think it's a frown Turned upside down." I like that line. I think it refers to how when people have a negative opinion of someone, they infer every action of that person as negative, and it's very hard to break. |

Does anyone know what the laws on adolescent sexuality are like in California, particularly in comparison to the laws in Minnesota and Oklahoma? I don't know, because I'm Australian, but I hear it as Amanda saying that laws that restrict sexuality just make people unhappy, particularly for teenagers who are just sexually mature, but can't celebrate it. As well as that young women are expected not to want sex, even if they really do, and laws are even crafted around that. Perhaps I'm just projecting (some of) my own beliefs onto this song, however. |
