Chester French – She Loves Everybody Lyrics 13 years ago
For some reason, this song's been with me for a while now and I've been thinking about it a whole lot more than necessary; and the more I listen to it, the more it seems to me it's actually about an over-affectionate girl who makes the protagonist feel insecure so he's trying to lock her out by presuming she's something of a prostitute. When she comes on to him, he "uses protection" whilst not really saying "no"; when she says she loves him, he assumes that she loves everybody, but takes it for granted nevertheless. So after all it's just his excuse to not get very close to her and demean her by calling her a little girl, which to some extent is true indeed for she has this fear that nobody loves her.
For my ears-awfully subjective, I'll admit-it's a self-ironic view of male perspective of distancing oneself from too intense feelings she might be projecting. All the more, he makes it her fault for making a mess in the car! As if he never encouraged her, although only as long as it was safe for him!
