The reason is because 98% of their songs are about war. WAR and more WAR. There isn't alot to debate or explain. It's about grabbing a gun and blowing stuff up. Or a spear and stabbing stuff up. Or what have you. |

| Bolt Thrower – *A Symbol of Eight Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This is a song inspired by one of the religions in Warhammer 40k. The eight fold path to chaos, to be exact. (That arrow thing that's on the cover of some of their albums.) The idea behind it is to create chaos for the gods of chaos and you will be given eternal reward. |

| Virgin Black – Whispers Of Dead Sisters Lyrics | 18 years ago |

This song is pretty pointed about people in churches who constantly critisize you and try to make you fit some kind of 'christian' mold that they hold in their hands. Whispers (gossip) of (spiritually)dead sisters (women in the church). The first section is about his longing to please God while others point him out and tell him he cannot, at least the way he is trying to do it. The second is about the anger he feels at them for pretty much telling him he is somehow worshiping God 'wrong.' Anger at their disaproval. The third is about walking out faith underneath this heavy burden, making your knees bleed and wondering why the faith doesn't make the hurting/hatred stop. Which it doesnt, at least not totally. Christians aren't called out of the world in the sense of being immune to all its problems. In a way it makes it harder on us because of all the oppression of the fake-church followers, God haters, and of course, satan in general. And the fourth is resting in the promises of God despite our limited understanding and vision. Suffering isn't our purpose, but something we must endure to reach our higher end in Him. |

On the fashion. 1) They are in costume. It's not their day to day attire. 2) They don't dress immodestly/prevocatively, or in a way that is evil. So theres nothing wrong with it. |

I agree with the post above, and talked to Rowan during his American tour that backed this up (pretty good source, eh?) Jesus being faith, which is barely there because of the person's lack of venturing outside the comfort zone s/he find themselves in. Their faith 'dies', or forsakes them utterly, after constantly abusing it and sinning against it. But it still points The Way, which in this songs instance would be outside. The person finally ventures outside the rotten fix they find themselves in, and to true faith in Him. |

| Virgin Black – And The Kiss Of God's Mouth Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The song seems to be about being afraid of God. 'Kiss me tenderly, savage God' speaks of stepping out even though you may not be completely comfortable with worshiping Him, or you have a misconception about God because of the way the church has portreyed him. Then it offeres hope. It tells that all is pointless and miserable but 'an upturned face', which would be someone who is looking at/seeking God truly. Aluding to people who are too busy looking at themselves, or like him previously, too busy looking down in shame. |

I'll have to disagree with this. From reading interviews about this, I'd have to say that the song is about something completely different. It's about being tempted and going astray. 'I shivered in the warmth of their god' gives the idea that no matter what promises the idols out there give, they pale in comparison to the one true God. |
