Until a few weeks ago this was my least favourite song on the album because of the way the orchestra loudly interjects at some points. I later realised the relation to 'The violins explode inside me when I meet your eyes'. The orchestra's sudden blast after that could be an impression of exploding violins.
I just looked the lyrics up in the booklet that came with the album and it says 'the violets explode inside me'. There goes my theory for the most part. Maybe it's just an impression of violets exploding. |

This song is so beautiful. I like how they say "But I pulled and I called you here" etc, seemingly to find whose fault it is they are in that situation in which they will both die, when both would happily give their life to save the other. They're saying that love makes you do dangerous things but now that they die they can be safe at least, and together, though not how they imagined. |

I really hope that these musician-type people have the brain capacity to use something like sarcasm or that thing Jcrams said, and doesn't actually consider 'sexy bitch' a respectful compliment. That would make this song a lot less 'make-me-want-to-gauge-my-eyes-out-with-a-screwdriver-because-it's-so-stupid'. |

Are you even serious? A bitch being someone who is inferior, nasty and mean? Do you consider being told by some random man-whore (or else a famous r&b singer) that he wants to hump your brain out as such an enormous compliment that it completely counteracts the 'bitch' part? Being called a whore is only a small step down, you know. Self-respect issues much? |

brilliant song.
To me, it seems like it's about people that are moulded into loving their leader, the king, and that they're tought to worship him. And that they don't get a say in that themselves, at least, that's what the robotic voice tells me. |

At first I was thinking, about the "you can't break that which isn't yours" line, that someone can't break your heart if you don't love them. If you love them, you sort of give them your heart.
I don't think the song's about Jesus, though it could be. I just heard someone qoute regina answering the question "are you inspired by Jesus?" and she replied "Who's Jesus? No, I'm jewish!"
I agree with Z68ak, I think it's about the jews being forced out of russia, because that's what happened to regina.
And I'd like to mention the fact that the Thank You-notes in the album say "Now, (...) please know that this list was written late at night. On a tour. In a hotel room. By candlelight. In the 13th century. During a war. ..."
Though I''m not really sure what that means.I don't know when that person who said Après moi le deluge lived. |
