i believe that part is about his life. he was born in 83 possibly and from birth his parents chose his path to go to church and all that until he finally could make decisions on his own and chose his own path in life, and that path was to rid himself of this religion nonsense. |

This song, in no way, is a contradiction of itself. They are simply stating that they will not disrespect anyone for their personal religious beliefs as long as they aren't trying to force their beliefs onto them. They think the whole concept of going to church, and organized religion as a whole is absurd, but if that's your thing, go for it. They will not ever believe, so don't try to make them is the basic message.
As for the title, referring to the bible as 'an old book misread' is genius. The bible was a piece of literature that individuals decided to look a little too far into. Of course, this is just my opinion and everyone will have their own views on religion.
I agree with the person above me in saying that the 'lamb' is the lyricist himself, and that while he was a child he had no say in choosing if he wanted to go to church or not. He then finally got the chance to choose and decided it wasn't his thing.

seems pretty straight forward.
"what happened to the good time music?" - they are sick of hearing all the dark "emo" bands that keep coming out.
smoke a joint and start writing happy music. that's what i get from this, and it's a wonderful statement. |
