| Hooverphonic – Mad About You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song screams out the emotions of love and being madly in love with someone and the verse 'give me all your true hate and I'll translate it in your bed' brings a sexual and slightly masochistic/sadistic element to it... possibly meaning that really... the person the singer is mad about isn't expressing much love in return, hence the melancholic and despairing sound of the song... beautiful though, I love sad-sounding minor keys... hehe... anyway... this song is basically about someone being head over heels and helplessly in love with a person but has a certain madness and obsession to it... that it could be considered scary and unhealthy by some people. | |

Despite's Brian Molko's interpretation... I have a certain fondness of the last verse because it connects with me... I read a book about the self Said I should get expensive help Go fix my head Create some wealth Put my neurosis on the shelf But I don't care for myself I don't care for myself I don't care for myself I don't care I wrote this novel just for you I'm so pretentious, yes it's true I wrote this novel just for you Just for you Just for you The writing the novel just for 'you' means that you're writing a novel just for the person you love and it's 'so pretentious' because the singer is in doubt that the love is return and the suffering this causes makes it unhealthy for the singer and that people tell the singer that it would be easier to move on but the singer says that they 'don't care about myself' because they are still determined to love the person they're in love with. That's how I see it at least... |

| R.E.M. – Losing My Religion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| So many interpretations... have only read half of them... but anyway... I am unsure of how to interpret this song myself... a lot of people base it on religion or wanting to be in the spotlight but when I heard the verse 'I thought I heard you laughing, I thought I heard you sing... and I think I thought I saw you try' tells me immediately that it could possibly be for a lover... and the 'I think I thought I saw you try' has a sad kind of pride to it indiacting that the lover making an effort is very rare and the 'I think I thought' gives the listener a sense that the singer is surprised by this. | |

It could be about the critics, it could be about Kate... it could even be about Carl if you would like to interpret it that way... as this song is obviously opened to many interpretations. I personally interpret this song from my point of view... 'it's not easy getting it out your head' - it's not easy to forget someone you have fallen for... 'it's too easy getting out your head' - as the 'it' article was left out, it creates a different meaning, meaning that it's very easy for this to drive you on the break of insanity! Also, 'it's not easy getting out of bed' implies that it's difficult to get up to a new day where you're slapped in the face with the pain. 'Tell me now, could not explain no' - expresses the confusion of the relationship, 'you used to be into me, now you've got it in for me' states that all was going well until everything started to become weird and this is the reason for the inexplainable confusion. 'Don't you think about what they said? The way they teased me' is one of my favourite lines alongside with the next verse... it doesn't necessarily fit with what I have been saying but it could be the singer bringing other people into the song and what they think about the singer in this situation. 'And I know where to find you my love' states that the singer knows exactly where his lover is and could just as well go to 'the same old flat' uninvited (also suggesting that the singer has a history of being invited there because the singer knows where it is) but is too afraid of the consequences as the singer obviously still has feelings for the dedicatee and wants to make the dedicatee love the singer back and have everything back to good so they could progress further. I don't know if that makes any sense to you but that's how I feel about the song... |
