| I always think of this song as being about a girl the singer was best friends with and who was always cheerful and happy and who he relied on to make him smile but when she tries to show that she's not so happy inside its like nobody really wants to know because they don't want to imagine she gets down sometimes too. It's probably not about that at all but that's how I always picture it. this song is amazing. it practically sums up my last 6 months. tome it's about a girl who's having trouble with her boyfriend and knows its not going to work out: "So we stayed up late one night to try and get our problems right, But I couldn't get into his head just what was going through my mind." because they're just not getting each other like they maybe once did. And the girl has a friend who has told her he loves her...and she's scared because she's falling in love with him too. "I've got this friend who sounds just like him, Now he's the man I leave you for, the man that I just adore, Like you. The same man, he turns to me, he said "I've got to tell you how I feel, If God could make the perfect girl, for me it would be you, And my God told me not to tell about how much do you love your fella?" I don't know more everyday, Not in this new romantic way." But she's feeling bad because she told her boyfriend she loves him and would be with him forever and now she knows she'll leave him for this other guy and break her promise and break his heart "I'll always be your first love, You'll always be my first love." Its such a relevant song to my life recently. But I left and now I'm happy and I know I did the right thing. But damn if I'd known this song back then it would have had me in tears every time |
