Can´t get more straight forward than this i guess, it all speaks for itself. Not the most fantastic lyrics, but I like the fact that its not your everyday pop song subject. |

I think both the one night stand and the breaking up make sense. Perhaps he's been into this girl since forever, and finally they hook up. However, she just sees it as a regular one night stand while the narrator is totally in love with her. He doesn't want her to know this because he'd look stupid and feel ashamed so he acts like it was just a one stand for him aswell. 'How am I supposed to pretend I never want to see you again?', you don't usually speak to/see your one night stands ever again. 'In the afternoon, you're out on the stone and grass. And I'm sleeping on the balcony after class' She just lives on like nothing happened while he is torn and just wants to sleep it off and not be around people. The 'Cruel professor' covering romantic works doesn't seem logical to me. He start with 'Then I see you, you're walking across the campus', seeing how he is talking about her it would make sense that he's also talking about the girl with 'cruel professor talking about romances' and not suddenly jump to a professor in class. Great song, i like how even these fairly simple lyrics can mean so many different things to different people |

@ MakesMeSmile I was thinking something along the lines of that aswell, all those new indie bands who think they're cool, new, hip, refreshing etc but are actually just following the craze. That verse being about the fact that people don't really like them and just follow the crowd could be true too, but about the 'old' fans and the 'new' fans seems stupid to me. Why would someone who has knows arctic monkeys for 3 years be a better/bigger/whatever fan than someone who has knows them for 6 months? People who brag with things like 'oh i knew that band before they were famous, bla bla bla' are more fony, in my opinion. |
