Sufjan Stevens – Rake Lyrics 18 years ago
Unfortunately, most f his songs are intentionally referencing god. You'll have to accept that.

I'm surprised I've never heard this song cited as proof that Sufjan isn't gay.

It's clear from this song that the line is "Dedicated to all you human beings".

If that additional verse that the first person posted is true, than this song may have a connection with "15 Step". They both share the line "You used to be alright, what happened?"

This is such poignant song about growing to be independent without parents to help shape you.

Sufjan Stevens – Many Guides Lyrics 18 years ago
The song has some really interesting meaning. I suppose on one level it's simply a cautionary song instructing people to trust some of the natural and spiritual guidelines that are inherent in the world. On another level, it seems to incourage docility and improvisation in one's life.

This song leaves my heart sobbing in its wake, and it haunts me in my rest. It lifts me with its force.

Sufjan Stevens – Wolverine Lyrics 18 years ago
This is what Sufjan Said about the song; "My sister taught at a small school in Wolverine, Michigan, where it was popular to for teenage girls to get pregnant. They brought their children to school and showed them off like letters on varsity jackets."
