"But you and I should not play those games The world is coming to an end" Could this be a possible reference to straightedge? Taken to mean drinking games or casual sex. I think it might be, I've be listening to this song a lot since I arrived at university and discovered my belief in drinking to moderation alone wouldn't work with the society here in Britain. "I'd be lonely if only you weren't so proud" Reminds me of my ex. I broke up with her after I discovered she's sold out to immorality, and is really prideful about it. Which really pisses me off, to say the least. |

It's about a chaste guy stopping a passionate embrace from getting out of hand. It can also relate to my girlfriend and I. I was at the tail end of a bad relationship with my ex, about to end, and we both discovered we had mutual feelings for each other. And in my limits, hugs are fine. So in the most passionate cuddle one can imagine, I had to fall away without kissing her (I'm faithful). Which is the "i kiss your neck, i feel you breathing on my shoulder". "still i'm perfect": about not having been defiled by cheating. Despite having been close. "i was so close, that was the most that i have ever been through": this is to do with the likely meaning of the song describing a guy falling away without having sex with his turned-on girlfriend, because his morality stopped him just in time. And the passion fades, the lust prevented from getting it's way. His heartbeat slows down, and he walks away. Turning himself and her back to old cassettes: mixtapes. Considering my girlfriend and I are both really into music, this was a perfect line. Ahh, SoCo rock. |
