Postal Service did the original. I know it would seem like Iron and Wine did, but it wasn't him, it was Postal Service. You can tell by the style. It is written like a Death Cab for Cutie song, because Ben Gibbard is the vocalist and songwriter for both bands.

Watch any live version of the song and you'll see that Billy Howerdel is the one that says "Fuck your God". By the way, it's definately "Fuck". If you watch the live TV version on Youtube, he says "Thank" and it sounds different.
