Magenta, I agree with you about DM's use of religious metaphors - brilliant comments on that, but jeez, show some respect - to your Creator and to fellow posters.

Sorry for the second post, but something else I'd like to add is that I have noticed references to God, faith and religion in many of DM's songs. That is one of the many things about them that drew me in...MLG's lyrics are always deep and meaningful, almost searching...Martin is surely familiar with the Bible as the song "The Sinner in Me" seems to be influenced by Romans 7 in the New Testament. I found an interesting article that gives an opinion on the lyrics of John the Revelator. I tend to agree with this explanation over any of the others I have come across:

I would love to see your responses to this article.

Has anyone considered that the song could be interpreted/directed toward fundie Jihadists who want to kill the rest of us? They believe they are doing a service to God...they are stealing God from the Israelite, the average Muslim as well as the Christian. I doubt this is the true meaning behind the song, but I just wanted to throw my thoughts out with all the Bush-bashing that I saw. It is obvious that this song can be interpreted many different ways. I think the song is great and I enjoy listening to it, but I would really like to hear directly from DM the reasons they chose to record this. It would be interesting to know.
