| Kevin Devine – Another Bag of Bones Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think "time to burn" means it's time for us to pay for what we've done... war, pollution, greed, etc. he's talking about the human race coming to an end being the fate we've earned. | |
| fun. – Be Calm Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think this song is about The Format breaking up (among other things) and the stress it put on him. it's about coming to terms with the fact that we don't always know what's going to happen next in our lives. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Doris Day (Don't Go) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"You said he's in a punk rock band But baby, punk rock's dead" does anyone else feel like this line is a jab at SoCo? maybe not at the music they made, but at the fact that they came under scrutiny for trying to be a pop-punk band when Andrew has said he never really cared for punk music. i could be wrong, i just always think it's a tongue-in-cheek reference to SoCo whenever i hear that line. |

| Manchester Orchestra – My Friend Marcus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"My friend Marcus, he sleeps in my basement And his father touched more than spirit Now he can hardly sleep, sleep" i think the father he talks about in this verse is literally his father, and his friend was molested as a child. "I don't give a good shit if your lonesome I think that you should go home son Find your father and meaning" here, i think the father he mentions is god. andy can't understand why it's so hard for him to let god into his life because he hasn't had the same experiences. he thinks if his friend just accepts god, he will be able to find a purpose in life. "Now I can see You mean everything to nothing" "Its funny how many don't know How many dont have a home" he finally realizes that not everyone is as lucky as he has been to have grown up in a good home. he understands now why it's difficult for people like his friend to believe in god. |

| The Format – Tune Out Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
i think this song is about two people having an affair. "Its your bed, so please choose a side I'll take the one closest to the door" he's going to her house to hook up, but he stays close to the door because he leaves soon after. "And this town is dead we've been caught in these sheets way too long lets just see whos Up on this screen no one i know is more depressing then me or should i say the two of us" he's starting to hate himself for what he's doing, and he thinks she should be remorseful too. "after awhile it all sounds the same, i guess its better then silence and better then shame" their only connection is sex, and when they're in the car together it is awkward because they have nothing to talk about. he turns on the radio to ease the uncomfortable silence and help him forget the shame he feels for cheating. |

| Eric Hutchinson – It Hasn't Been Long Enough Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| when i saw him live, he said this song was about a relationship he was in where they broke up and got back together 6 times. | |
| Eric Hutchinson – Outside Villanova Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think khiac72 is right, this song is about sleeping with a girl who is underage. she's probably 17, since he says she'll be legal soon. he sees their relationship as just sex, but she is in love with him and sometimes he feels bad about that ("in the middle of the night i have a breakdown of sorts, with regret creeping in"). he doesn't want to end things with her because he's afraid she'll report him to the cops out of spite. | |
| The Format – Oceans Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
the lyrics are definitely "the state is blue, at least that's a plus." Nate is from Arizona which is a lot more conservative than California. he's trying to come up with reasons to go to California, other than the fact that he misses her, and that's one of the reasons he wants to leave. plus, all of his references to not being a religious person make me think he's also pretty liberal. "Maybe it's time I put a profile up of who I want to be Fool everyone, just to start over clean I can hide behind a big blue screen" i think this is another reference to online dating, like the one in Dog Problems. since he couldn't change himself for this girl, he thinks maybe it will be easier to adopt a new persona if he does it online. |

| Something Corporate – Watch the Sky Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| well, andrew actually wrote this song long before he got sick... so even though it sounds like a song about fighting cancer that probably wasn't his intention when he wrote it. still, it is strange how the lyrics in this song sort of foreshadow what he ended up having to deal with. but to me, this song is just about surviving the day to day, and waiting for hard times to get better. "you live the life you're given with the storms outside, someday's all i do is watch the sky." it means that there are always going to be things in life that we cannot control, and sometimes all we can do is wait for them to pass by. this is like the perfect song to put on when you're having a bad day... it always cheers me up. | |
| Manchester Orchestra – I Can Feel a Hot One Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i think that maybe manna is just a refrence to religion itself... and he is saying that religon can be "a hell of a drug." still, he realizes that he needs it in his life. - "and i need a little more i think, because enough is never quite enough." | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Caves Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song is pretty easy to interpret as far as content goes. the first half is about being sick, the second half is about how he got better physically but he's still trying to shake what he went through and recover mentally. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Hammers And Strings (A Lullaby) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| based on what he said in the AP interview about writing this for his piano, i think this song is about him reflecting on his life as a musician and maybe realizing just how many people his music has touched... or it's about the power of music in general and how it can help us through some of our hardest times. in the chorus, i think he's trying to say that all he wants is to write music that helps people. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Hammers And Strings (A Lullaby) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| milk23, hammers and strings are parts of the piano. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Crashin' Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i agree with LewisMasonx, i think this song is about having writers block and living in a time where the majorty of people writing and producing music are probably just doing it to get money, and no one cares about the quality anymore. | |
| Jack's Mannequin – Drop Out - The So Unknown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
i think "the so unknown" is marriage, and this song is about leaving an old life behind and starting over with his wife. it's about becoming someone's life, their everything. "And we won't wake up on Sunday So I'm building us a church Where we can sleep in With the gods at work And our friends will write us letters They'll never understand why we don't call We're hiding out until the empire falls" they don't need to go to church or believe in anything else because they have found each other, and all they want to do is be together away from the rest of the world. |
