I read this as a poem at my nana's funeral, she was the first person close to me that died. I read this after communion and I could hardly stop crying but everyone stopped me to tell me how beautiful the poem was and I ended up after to give at least ten different people copies of it afterwards! i love this song and it'll always have a special place in my heart |

I'd heard the same thing meandmymonkey and heard, I think it's such an amazing song to get from something as sad as a homeless person finding a friend. I love how he uses the stars in this song and the line "I'll shine for you" almost suggests that every star is someone taking care of another! it's a great song and so sweet! |

This is my most favouitre song in the world! The first time I heard it I actully cried and I thought the video was beautiful. I've always interrpreted this song as about two people starting over again in a relationship. "I went out in the rain..." This is about him being in a sad place and being miserable, possibly going out on a limb for the girl but it's all paid off and everything's going right now. "I swear I was bling before I met you" Here I think he's referring to being lost and not knowing what he was doing, this maybe why they had to start over. The next line also suggests this, it's gives the idea that a lot has happened in the past and he was confused but now he knows he waqnts to be with this girl. The next little part is sorta sweet he's acknowledging that he was confused before and that he did take his time but now he's surethis is the right thing. Also the "I wondered if i could come home" suggests again that they were already together. The bit about driving all night is more about another rough patch they had already, something that maybe was her fault but when they got through it, it was worth it and they were better together and stronger than before. The bit about what she's saying would be very romantic but the reference to death in there suggests they did have very dark and unhappy times together butbeing happy suggests that they're in a better place and they're ready to be with each other. The last verse really had me stumped for a while but I think I got it figured out, it talks about still maybe being not too sure but he does come to the conclusion that he'd rather to be working to make things right and just make things even a small bit better than they were in the past than waiting around for her to forgive him and for things to miraculously be perfect again. The last bit is the sweetest part of the song, it's almost shy and meek, he's still a little hesistent about starting over and he's not sure about how she feels and doesn't want to push but he's trying to remind her that maybe she does have feelings for him |

This song is very obviously about sex but not romance, it's raw and dirty and crude. The way he sings it makes it sound almost like he regrets his lust Also for the person who was wondering about the "yoke" reference, yeah a yoke is the yellow part of an egg but in Ireland (where my I'm from as is Damien Rice) yoke is a sort of colloquial slang and it generally means "thing" Eg did you see that big yoke over there... I'm assuming he's refering to a penis hen saying yoke |
