| Local Natives – Airplanes Lyrics | 16 years ago |
oh my goddddd, so good. i seriously can't believe they don't have more recognition - which is a good thing. but seriously - "I bet when I leave my body for the sky the wait will be worth it" GENIUS! |
| Woods – The Number Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| beautiful song, and you're definitely right with "curious perfections" and "haunting life lessons". so great when he sings 'curious'.! | |
| of Montreal – Look at the Bell (Andy Instructs the Turkish Moths to Acquire Him More Bells or Else ...) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i'd like to reach this bell.. coincidentally, i have the greatest live version of this songgg. it's just so perfectly simple. |
| Lightspeed Champion – Devil Tricks for a Bitch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| allow me to scratch the "white boy" part. :] | |
| Lightspeed Champion – Devil Tricks for a Bitch Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i love how this little british white boy gets away with saying "nigga" and "sketchy motherfucker" yet still having a great song, so it doesn't even phase anyone. i think the last verse is more like.. you have your backup, and i have my "i'm sorry i ignored you," "why won't you help me?" "why won't you do the work for me?" like, she has her own backup plan, but he's just left with questions at the end of it all. just my take, because i don't hear the 'but' before the 'i'm sorry'. |
| Lightspeed Champion – All To Shit Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm thinking it's just 'So now I'm leaving, scratching out my eyes from sights i've seen, done been keen.' this song is so short and simple, perfection! |
| Joan of Arc – On A Bedsheet In The Breeze On The Roof Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ohhh, I can feel that. i'll have to agree with charcoal, definitely one of, if not the best JOA song lyrically. |
| Make Believe – Say What You Mean Lyrics | 18 years ago |
best make believe song ever! i love the nonsense. :] 'the flower's wrapped up in fences like the sex lives of the politicians' BEST! |
| Kind of Like Spitting – Share the Road Lyrics | 18 years ago |
actually, to correct myself again and the lyrics it goes: "i've had some really good people bummed out here in this bed next to me." |
| Kind of Like Spitting – Share the Road Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think the line goes: "i've had some really nice people bummed out here in this bed next to me" but, i can't believe no one else has gotten to this song, because it is honestly one of my favourite songs. the first kind of like spitting song i heard, and it hooked me right away. reminds me of okkervil river. and the ending of this song is the fucking best, "clicked out on the tape too slow". |
| Joan of Arc – The Hands Lyrics | 18 years ago |
so, the last part sounds like it repeats, "so i got this stare and i'm ready to die" about seven times, then it sounds more like, "i got this sare (sair?) and i'm ready to die" and then "it's like water to a fish!" is repeated twice throughout the previous verses repeating. your take? |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – The Fool Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| the only song that could possibly follow up two headed boy, i agree, radio. | |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Wishful Eyes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"tentative-tentativ-tentatively titled" i love the version of this song that i have, because magnum's explanation of the song in the beginning is priceless. "i was bad back then, i was fucked." i think this song is not about knowing what to do in life. you're stuck, know what you want to do something, but just can't get your actions in motion. |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Wood Guitar Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| anyone know where i can find a version of this song? | |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Heroin Bag Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i don't see how these are possibly 'bad' lyrics. it's an early song, one can agree there might not be as much style as later recordings, but it's still very jeff. i think it's beautiful, the last verse specifically sounds very mangum-esque. |
| Sea Wolf – Neutral Ground Lyrics | 18 years ago |
an open space, an open forum to discuss all that their relationship is going through. sometimes you need neutral ground to really be able to open up and discuss all the trials and tribulations of a relationship. they travel to so many different places, always trying to get it right. |
| Sea Wolf – You're A Wolf Lyrics | 18 years ago |
the actual lyric booklet for 'leaves in the river' has you're a wolf lyrics as: "i'm walking, i'm a southern stream get to the river before i run too low" and then "i'm running, i'm a northeast stream, get to the ocean before i run too low" |
| Sea Wolf – Song for the Dead Lyrics | 18 years ago |
so beautiful, sea wolf knows lyrics. "a comma of silence (i love this line,) Relieves all the violence You've dragged into bed With the sheets soaking red It's a glimmer of light Through a prism That's calling a truce With your beautiful hair So displayed on the chair And your head on the arm And your legs in the air And the words dancing out From your lips Like a sad ballet" these verses in particular sounds like someone stalked this girl out, and murdered her. sounds like a sexual assault, as well. with her legs in the air, etc. |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Bucket (Organ version) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i love the original version, but i love the twist and change from "bucket full of fear" to "bucket full of tears", etc. simple, nice changes on the organ version. |
| Joan of Arc – Perfect Need and Perfect Completion Lyrics | 18 years ago |
ahhh this song is amazing, are you guys serious? the entire song done in that whispering, light voice, it all goes together beautifully. the song seems to be a continuation of the entire theme of moving on, moving around. taking a trip with his girl's sister? i love the line "i've traded my blanket for a pillow" but i feel like i'm missing some underlying meaning. |
| Joan of Arc – Let's Wrestle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
but i also think it's "this august; it's wool." |
| Joan of Arc – Let's Wrestle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
cutest song everrr! "we know we can't quite kiss yet. let's wrestle" fucking fantastic! |
| Joan of Arc – (I'm 5 Senses) None of Them Common Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"if you're not bound you're only on the rebound." i definitely worship the kinsella family, especially altogether. |
| Joan of Arc – The Infinite Blessed Yes Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I can't believe this doesn't have any comments, one of the sexiest intros ever! this is just an absolutely beautiful song; "and it'll kill you to love like you will never die." |
| Les Savy Fav – What Would Wolves Do? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Slip into epiphany Oversee oversight A good stumble's a symphony A good drift takes drive i'm pretty sure they sing "into epiphanies" and "oversee oversights". but this could just be a different version or mishearing. anyways, this is my favourite les savy fav song, it's absolutely written beautifully. |
| Neutral Milk Hotel – Oh Comely Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i know that "pretty, bright and bubbly" are the correct lyrics, but i always thought "bratty, bright and bubbly" sounded better, or made a cooler alliteration. but what can possibly sound better than the words of jeff magnum? |
| Animal Collective – The Purple Bottle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i understand that the last verse, is most likely speaking of crushing pills. and that high- but i always liked to look at it as though he is just out of his mind in love with this girl, and can't even believe it. "thought i crushed all i could, crushed all i can, then i touched your hand." like you're always discovering something new, loving them more. |
| Interpol – Slow Hands Lyrics | 18 years ago |
"Can’t you see what you’ve done to my heart And soul? This is a wasteland now." understand it's about love, but always wondered if he loves her so much to make his heart a wasteland (sick with love at all possible?), or she's completely beat him down, because the song seems to be a happy melody of a love. |
| Interpol – Roland Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i don't know about going into such lengths as calling the song about the holocaust, but i always thought of the song as though a little kid was saying it. "and, um he has a beard." and "oh, look it stopped snowing"; these lines in particular hit me as child-like. |
