| Tenth Avenue North – By Your Side Lyrics

If they ever make a movie based on the novel Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, this HAS TO BE one of the songs on the soundtrack. If you've read it, you will understand. It describes the relationship between Angel and Hosea extremely well, in my opinion. And the Angel/Hosea relationship resembles our relationship as sinners with a God who wants only to rescue us. It is a beautiful song, as well. I love Tenth Avenue North. They write with such honesty and emotion. |

I like this song a lot. After I heard it while the credits were rolling on the movie "The Number 23," I had to know what it was! It's creepy and very dark, but I like it. |

Aww, this song makes me cry. I want to sing this to a guy I adore but he's got some issues in his home/personal life that are really bringing him down right now, and I just want to tell him that I'll look after him...
*sniff*
The "Stripped" version of this song, on this video

I first heard this song on the movie "Eagle Vs Shark," and I fell in love with it. I've never heard the original Bowie version, but I'm afraid it'll ruin it for me, judging by the comparisons I've heard. |

Porter, thank you so much for pointing that out! It truly bothers me when people misuse "to" and "too," as well as "their," "they're," and "there," and "your" and "you're." |

My little brother is graduating this year, and this is the song I'm setting his graduation party slideshow to. We had such great times together when we were little, and this reminds me so much of it! You can't help but smile and remember the good times when you hear it. La la la, la.... |

this has got to be the dreamiest song, ever. it reminds me of when i was little and innocent, swinging outside in the summer underneath our huge oak tree. that's when it came out on the radio, and i listened to it every day. now i want to cry every time i listen to it because it reminds me of happier times when i was carefree. siiigh. still love it, though! |

| David Crowder Band – Come Awake Lyrics

When I hear this song, I think of my grandma. I think about how we were so upset when she died, but how Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead simply by speaking to him. Not that I picture my grandma literally coming back to mortal life ( I wouldn't want her to suffer any longer), but how she's only "asleep" for a moment, until she's woken by His presence and brought into eternal life ("Climb from your grave into the light").
Also, I think of Jesus' crucifixion and the effect it had on some of His followers ("You are not the only one who feels like the only one").
Then, in the "head noise" part with the alarms and ticking, I think of the third day when He rose again. It was like God was waking Him up, saying "Arise, rise, rise, rise....shine! Shine!" proving His promised victory over death.
"He's shining on us now!" |

I agree. This song is so sobering and calming. What I liked about the "mini" songs on A Collision was the "head noise" that was included. It made me think of nothing else in the entire world...but God. |

Oh man. To me it's all about cherishing every moment with a close friend and just...getting away from everything for a little while (time seems to drip like Dali) and enjoying each other's company (and kisses)!
Drive to dream to live...we could see the world tonight. Man. Liberating and ambitious.
It reminds me of Mat Kearney's song "Nothing Left To Lose" --> "C'mon and we'll sing/ Like we were free/ Push the pedal down, watch the world around fly by us" .....Anyone feel me? Haha |

This song reminds me of a friendship in my past where things began to get more serious, close, and personal, but then he left for a college really far away (to get away from the family that was killing his spirit). The lyrics explain exactly what we were feeling when he left--he was my philosophical buddy--and how we wanted things between us to stay the same but both knew that "Things are gonna change now for the better." |

The first word that pops into my head when I hear this song is, "Aww..." for a couple of reasons. It's sweet ("I want to be your last first kiss that you'll ever have") and sad at the same time ("Is it over now?")
But my favorite line is "We end up hurting the worst the only ones we really love." It reminds me of a friendship that I had last year that was full of confusion and good intentions. |

I know what the intended meaning of the song is, but when I listen to it, it takes on a different meaning to me. I mean, songs can be about anything you want them to be about, right? :)
I always picture someone whose close friend, perhaps a significant other, committed suicide. And the person is thinking about their friend: "I thought you said forever/Over and over" and the day they died: "A sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion," as if the deceased friend couldn't take their situation any longer and
The situation just falls into place for me as far as the lyrics go (hotel rooms, "Kiss the ones you love goodnight" "If I could turn around, I would tonight"). The "real" meaning fits perfectly, don't get me wrong. I simply can see another fitting meaning. |

I love this song. It was the first one I'd ever heard from them, but it got me hooked! I totally agree with the Christian motif here.
Another point though...I saw someone ask about the "One day we'll drink to this" part. I think it refers to the Marriage Supper that will take place after the His people are raptured. I think the song is saying that one day we'll look back and reminisce about our leaving. |

| Relient K – Deathbed Lyrics

Absolutely amazing. Just...perfect. I listened to it one night after seeing the album in my brother's room. I followed the lyrics as he sang them and right when it got to "you asked for and prayed for My forgiveness..." and into the "...you cried wolf, the tears they soaked your fur..." I broke down. It shows how utterly forgiving Jesus is and that no matter what the narrator of the song did in his life, it was always available for a complete 180. Every time I listen to the song now, I start tearing up at that part.
My eyes are starting to sting just thinking about that part of the song...whew. |

So what do you guys think this is about? I think it's about a lost child. Ergo, a baby (the "wrinkles on your skin", etc) that died within a short time after birth. He makes it sound as if he was so ecstatic when she was living but now that she's gone he's upset (obviously). He knows she's in Heaven, hence the "the next best thing...is knowing where you are" and "I cannot cross the chasm". Nice tidbit added between the songs though. |

I adore this song. It's got such a personal meaning to it, but I applied it to a guy I knew and encouraged, though he was older than me. For me, it's, "you live in a house, but you sleep in a van" = "you've got so much potential, but you don't use it and settle for something less valuable". Also, one of my favorite quotes of all time is "You know it never is too late as long as you are breathing, honey." *Sigh*. Absolutely true.
One more thing... I love the drawn out "windowsill"...so dreamy. |

| The Fold – Beside You Now Lyrics

Obviously this song is about the loss of someone, though I don't know whether or not it is about a significant other. Perhaps it was a life long friend that left or died. I'm leaning more toward the death option because of the words "...they'll come get me to place me next to you". It sounds like he's waiting to die so he can be near his friend/S.O., six feet under. It's an understandable feeling.
On a lighter note, is anyone besides me annoyed at the way he sings "they're taking you away" at the beginning of the song? He sounds like he's saying "avay". Gah. Otherwise, great song. |
