I've always looked at this song symbolically. I don't agree with the person who said that she was alienating herself from men with religion, I always thought of her as not necessarily needing lovers because she felt complete. The ending seems to be about not letting ideas of right and wrong inhibit us nor turn us into nihilists, but living with passion. That's how I try to live. |

i don't know what it means for them, but for me it's about how people castigate others for their behavior or personal life because they have to define themselves by other people |

about the green wheels. this is probably not it at all, but when i was going to raves i knew this girl who was really into cocaine. i was doing it like once every couple of months, but this girl thought it was safe to do it twice a week- she was wrong, obviously, and got addicted. anyway, after she started coming down, she would go and eat like a bunch of okra, she said it helped her or something... anyway chopped up it looked like little green wheels... |

to me... i only really get the obvious points, that space oddity is the expression of someone just starting to take drugs, when they're still scary but haven't taken their toll yet, and are still kind of fun and glamorous. ashes to ashes is about "the all time low", the effects of a habit, and wondering why you ever got hooked in the first place. I can't figure out what the "green wheels" are, tho... |

i think it's about how politicians in u.s., or maybe any 3rd world country, use control to serve their own purposes. all the wars in the world are started by our leaders, and usually for some reason i.e. crippling another form of government, securing foreign interests or simply hate. as much as we "support the troops!!" we take critical looks at soldiers when they return from war, because they killed people and will never be the same. but we don't see the same kind of blood on the hands of politicians.
the religious aspect? think of leaders like Bush, who push a Christian agenda, and then order the killing of so many people. that's pretty much the most evil and unchristian thing you could do. |

at first i thought it was about sex, and i accredited the milk line to being about, i don't know being connected or something.
but the more i thought about, the more convinced i became it was about a mother-son relationship. |

hmmm I don't know why some people are getting so mad and insisting only their interpretation is right seeing as they didn't write it and can only know what it means to them personally...
"he's already in me" does make me think of the devil, and because of "i am the resurrection" i would say a christianity reference isn't that far out there.
How much more explanation can be given to this song? I want to be adored- it's pretty easy to understand. |
