I think this song is about science and scientists. for instance "if it can be fussed then it can be split" this wud seem to be talkin about nuclear fussion and fission.
it then goes on 2 say "all you need is time" which makes me think they are talkin bout the way science believes that given time it can solve any problem.
"we promised the world we'd tame it" could be talkin bout the things tht science has created that are now used in a bad way, for instance nuclear weapons
finally when they sing "So here we are reinventing the wheel
I'm shaking hands with a hurricane" it seems 2 b a shot at how science can be pointless and do things that r completly unecesary. this is followed by the lines "It's a colour that I can't describe, It's a language I can't understand" which it would seem are sayin that science may nt always have the answers |

I think this song is about machismo and the petyness and falseness of it. the obvious example of machismo being, "my cock is much bigger than yours," they show the petyness of this machismo by taking it further 2 show how pointless it is with "my shit stinks much better than yours. I get the impression that the lines, "we're the regulators that deregulate..." are about being false, so continuing with my origional idea it would be about how machismo is more often than not false. just some thorts |

Its about the Tianmen Square massacre and how the Chinese governement attempted to cover it up by not allowin forgien reporters into the courtry, "they disguise it" and "propaganda leaves us blinded." As for the "I'm just sitting in my car waiting for my girl" people have said its about Daron's girlfriend who died in the massacre, if this is the case (i dont no for sure) then it would fit in with the whole cover up of the massacre because hes just waiting, and not knowin why shes not ther |

I'm not entirly sure wat this songs bout but i think it could b bout competition and tht its important 2 keep ur cool in competition, "when your pulling out your hair there's a white flag in the air" so if u get worked up and loose ur cool in competition u mite as wel give up. it also says "if i had your atitude it would be me geting screwed" so the atitude of loosing cool in competition would get ur screwed. This seems like an odd thing 2 write a song bout tho so mayb im lookin at it 2 simply, wat do u think??? |

I think this song is clearly an attack on Bush and the Iraq war (i'm nt sure wen this was released so i dunt no if it fits wit the Iraq war or not but i could)
attacks on Bush are seen with "he's born a liar, he'll die a liar," this line could be based one ne1 (espec polititians) but then the followin line "stop being so american" makes it seem tht its aimed at Bush. Further attacks on Bush can be seen in "just like his dad, just like his dad (same mistakes) some things will never be different" clearly talkin bout both Bush's (Junior and Senoir) makin the same mistakes. once again they reinforce the idea tht its about Bush by sayin "why can't you be more european" Finally on the attacks of Bush, this i have no knowledge of its truth but the line "bastard child of guilt and shame" would be very funny if it was referin 2 Bush. Like i say i dunt no if it is and most probs isnt coz bloc party would b shot probs 4 sayin a line like tht bout Bush (hehe)
the attacks on the war in Iraq cn b seen in the chours "are you hoping for a miracle," the miracle in being able 2 bring a stable govenment in2 iraq. another can be seen as an attack on bush and the iraq war, "hes gona change the world" this (in my opinion) bein a sarcastic coment bout Bsuh thinkin he cn change the world and bring and end 2 terrorism.
